Is this it?? Yes - yes it is... Update #30

4-15 minutes apart, 30 seconds long since about 9 this morning (it's 2 now).

I've gotten the pool blown up, all my supplies gathered and at this point I'm about to go clean the kitchen just to stay busy.

And my cousin who I haven't seen in months just called to check up on me - she's coming into town tonight and wanted to drop by and see us... so I asked her to bring a bottle of champagne with her, since her timing was so perfect (she lives right near the champagne cellar I like).

Well, this is definitely IT, but IT is not moving very quickly. A short walk down to WF to pick up some dinner got things moving along, but I'm still only averaging about 5 minutes apart.

We're definitely moving slowly... They got up to 3 minutes apart, and then spaced back out again. I was able to lay down and get about 2 hours of sleep, and as soon as I got up again they're back at 6 minutes, and getting much more intense.

I can't reach my cervix to check what's going on - but I have really short fingers... and I'm not sure I want to ask DH to do it for me. I'm tempted to jump him, but he's already expressed nervousness about the prospect.

So at this point I'm just settling in for an extended labor, which is fine. The only thing I have to compare this to is labor with my first (37 hours of induced back labor), and this doesn't feel ANYTHING like that, so I'm good. I'll get to meet my little guy soon.

Well, we're 26 hours in, and still waiting. I've watched movies, taken walks, read an entire (thick) novel, done some knitting, cleaned the kitchen, done laundry, cooked, and gotten a tiny bit of sleep. DH is making sure to keep me fed.

Right now contractions are about 9 minutes apart, lasting about 45 seconds and INTENSE. The pool is filled, but I'm waiting to get in... as much as I would like the pain relief I'm just not sure if I want to take the risk of slowing things down any more.

ddc crashing... what helped me when my labor was not progessing much was a beer and a bath. the short, non-productive contractions stopped, and since my body was ready for labor, the longer, more intense ones picked right up.

good luck to you!

I'm thinking of you, Cristeen! If you had asked me yesterday, I would have said our situations would be reversed. I hope things pick up soon!
