Another McD's Thread : Regional Food

Does your McDonald's offer, or have they offered, a regional food choice in your area?

I don't actually know if it's still available, but McDonald's used to offer the McLobster sandwich in Eastern Canada, and maybe New England too, during the summer.

I've seen the McLobster thing around here.

I don't know, because I've never eaten at a McDonald's in Alaska (there are none in my part of the state, and I kind of dislike McDonald's anyway), but I do know they call their Big Macs "McKinley Macs" here.

Here in NM we have green chile double cheeseburgers (my dh likes them and eats them a couple times a month).

The only regional foods at McD's I've seen is the lobster sandwich in NE (VT, NH) and beets on the burgers in Australia.

We had a NM native friend over last weekend and we were talking about green chile at places like Wendy's and he honestly had no idea that it was a NM thing. He totally assumed every fast food restaurant had burgers with green chile.

When we were in Hawaii they offered pineapple as a side.

I actually kind of miss the McFalafel sandwiches we used to get.

I don't know, but I'm completely butthurt at the loss of the orange pop. It was SO GOOD. I don't like any of the other fountain pop there.

Used to live in Hawaii...they have taro pie (in addition to apple pie) there. They also have the McTeri every once in awhile.

We have a McRib sandwhich....I guess that's a regional thing

They always had tons of fun stuff at the mcdonalds in germany. Im not big on mcdonalds in general (i like other burger places better, lol) but I have to say, the food at the ones in germany was much better than anything ive gotten in the states.

except for the fact that you cant really "special order" your burger with no ketchup or mustard or whatever

When I lived in Chicago, they would periodically have hot dogs on the menu (well, brats I guess; I never had one). While I was visiting NZ, we stopped at a McD's and they had the "Kiwiburger" served with a sliced, pickled beet. My sister had told me that German McD's serve beer.

Spain

A friend who lived in Spain says that McDonald's there has gazpacho.

Also, when we visited her in Spain we discovered that you have to mix your own McFlurry. They don't blend them, you have to stir them up yourself.

i do think they serve beer.... i dont frink beer so i never paid attention. i know we got eggrolls there before when they were doing an asian thing, and i remember dh got some asian inspired pork burger, among other things.

it was hard for me since im picky about sauces (i HATE mustard, and while ketchup is ok on somethings, not on a burger for me) and my german wasnt always good enough to ask what kind of sauce it was, lol... i mostly stuck with a plain ol' burger when we were there... there was only one regular one that only had mayo, lettuce and tomato (yuck, but easy enough to take off)

Actually the McKinley Mac is a separate menu item. There's the Big Mac and then the McKinley Mac which has an extra patty and extra cheese on it.

They took the lemonade out of the soda fountains here to put in Dt. Dr. Pepper.

Before you drink orange soda again, check the ingredients....brominated vegetable oil....yum!

Ooh, yeah, the had brats in Wisconsin too.

Brats that rhyme with hots, not brats that rhyme with hats.

Dangit, now I want a brat. Curse this thread!

I dont think McRib is a regional thing. We have it here every couple months for a while then they take it away for a bit then bring it back. . . I also had one in Nebraska when we were on vacation and also one in Tennessee. .

When I was in college, one of my roommates was Canadian and when we went to her house one weekend, the McDonald's there had that dish that's french fries covered in melted cheese and gravy. I remember it being surprisingly yummy, although even writing it here now, it sounds blicky.

I'm in Massachusetts and remember the McRib from somewhere in the distant past, so that's swept through here at some point. I haven't noticed a McLobster, although I don't eat shellfish so that wouldn't be on my radar.
