The McDonalds here in southern Japan has shrimp sandwiches (like the filet of fish, but with tiny shrimp), seasonally they have a pork tonkatsu sandwich with fried lotus on it, they have egg burgers (burger, tomato, bacon, loads of mayo, and a fried egg--this is how burgers are in our area), for breakfast they have a hotdog on a bun with lettuce and mayo. . .they don't have super sized anything (which is a good thing I think) and you can't get a very large coffee. They do have iced and regular coffee though, and you have to put in your own creamer and sugar (I was back in the states this last year and they put the stuff in for me in Florida. . .it was wayyyyy too much, I'd rather do it myself) or sugar syrup (here they have gum syrup for iced drinks). It's pretty expensive to eat at McDonalds here. We rarely do it (lived here 5 years and only eaten there maybe 3 times). . .but we have felt a need to try the local stuff when we've seen signs for it.

That would be called a poutine (not just at McDonald's LOL its a French Canadian thing). Poutine is wondrous...though we aren't lucky enough to have it at the McD's here (so I have to settle for dipping my fries in mayo and ketchup). The key to good poutine is what my brother refers to as "chemical gravy" aka...don't use actual gravy but use those really salty gravies that you make from a mix....and cheese curds instead of regular cheese. Yum yum!!

Yeah Mcdonalds in Spain had gazpaucho and a couple other wierd things on the menu (sandwhiches as I recall). And they had beer. But, the main reason to goto a Mcdonalds in spain was the bathrooms - it was the one place that were clean AND consitantly had toilet seats AND toilet paper. Bliss!!

ETA: oh and beer & wine. Of course. But, then again, I don't think any restaurant in Spain DOESN'T serve beer & wine. It'd just be silly. I mean, water is WAY more expensive than beer & wine!!

After seeing Pulp Fiction years ago, my DH said he now had to go into McDs in Europe just to eat a Royal w cheez.....and get a beer. He also did it in Jamiaca. But he would never eat these normally but had to do it because of that one line in PF.

I remember in Paris, the orange drink was orange juice. Didnt go to well w my royal w cheez...

We've got kosher McDs here (not all of them) plus some serve Israeli salad (cucumber/tomato/herbs with olive oil and lemon). I haven't ever been in one, but they are not cheap!

here are the menus around the world

I must admit, I love a large McDonalds coffee, black. Mmmm. So when I buy that, I also happen to see what's on the menu.

The main thing I notice around here (deep south) is biscuits on the am menu. I'm pretty sure growing up in Cali McD's didn't have biscuits! In fact, I think in Cali I remember there being bagel sandwiches on the am menu.

I've never seen the McLobster or any regional food in the US, but I know that McDonald's in different countries always customizes their menu a bit to the culture there -- they had some cool stuff at McDonald's when I was in brazil and Malaysia
