There is no waste (besides the grounds themselves) in a Keurig machine if a "My K Kup" is used.

Those of you who have had muddy results with the coffee press- were you sure to make sure the coffee was ground very coarsely? This is hard to do on your own with a blade grinder. I grind at the health food store on the coarsest it will grind - I thnk the setting is "perc". If it's smaller than that, or some parts of it are like what is likely to come from a blade grinder, you get mud, or silt as I call it.

I love the coffee press. When our coffee maker died, we got rid of it. It took up too much space on the counter and we never used it's full capacity. DH drinks one cup at 6:20 and I drink a cup more like 7:30. With the press, it works great. Fits in the cabinet, quick rinse between batches, and comes apart easily for teh dishwasher, and of course, makes great coffee. I can't emphasize enough though how important uniform coarse grind is.

Nothing brings out fanatics like a good coffee thread! That and a washing machine thread!

Thanks for all the replies! I think I will be going with a french press. I like the simplicity of it and less counter space taken up! I'll just have to grind my own coffee from now on instead of buying the fine espresso.

Can't wait to try it with some locally roasted french roast!!

Congrats! I got a French press in the spring after my coffee maker bit the dust and I swear I will never go back. My morning coffee is SO GOOD!

Has anyone here tried the very pricey Eva Solo Cafesolo? I really want to check it out - just curious about feedback.

We love espresso and dark roast coffees. An espresso machine? Another coffeemaker? A french press? What do you all have?
We had a Cuisinart 4 cupper that leaked like a seive too! We bought one like the GSI 3 Cup Stainless Steel Coffee Percolator

I was looking to get away from all plastics. The only drawback is the plastic on the top that is BPA free but I have been looking at second hand stores for a glass top that fits it.

I know, but part of the appeal of the single-serve coffee makers is the lack of mess and not dealing with the grounds. So I'm willing to compromise, esp since I don't drink coffee normally. DH gets to use his Keurig at work and the Senseo at home.

Am I the only one who likes percolator coffee?

I got this as a gift for Christmas and it makes the best cup of coffee I've ever tasted (I too like French press, but if you prefer drip I'd highly recommend it.)

I also have a Delonghi latte machine-I prefer the coffee maker.
