Can anyone tell me about GDiapers?

I know this is not the typical, but I was hoping that someone could tell me if they like or dislike them?

We used CD with our 14 month old and when I returned to work it because increasingly harder to keep him in them because DH hated them and our Nanny hated them and he kept getting diaper rashes. I'm thinking of using FB as the "cover" with the throw away liner in it, as well as gdiaper covers with the throw away liner.

Anyone have any experience with them and would like to share.

It might work with other covers... I used gdiapers and it was a mess every single time. So much leakage, especially with poop. Horrible.
The inserts worked with Bummis and Proraps, as those covers are great at containing messes. But you'll have to wash the cover after each poop (compared to prefolds which usually contain all the mess without dirtying the cover)....

I only tried them for 1 week, as the store I worked in sold them, and I was trying them out for them.....I really hated them. There were little gel beads that would stick to dd's legs and I really thought that it was more annoying to throw one thing away and have to wash the other. I also found that the insert kind of floated around a lot, and had a tendency to leak. If cloth is not an option for you any longer I would look into getting a 'natural' disposable diaper like this one:

If you want to stick with cloth, maybe switching to a cotton fitted or the Organic Bum Genius AIO. Do you think your son's rash is due to the detergent or the diaper material? It took me 3 months to figure out that my son was sensitive to all fragrances, even the all natural ones in my seventh gen. det. Once we switched to a free and clear det. his rashes went away.

I don't know why he kept having the rash, but if we switched him to sposies for a few days (and used rash cream) he would get better and we would go back to CD'ing, but like I said DH was eventually totally against it.

I did have a good friend offer to sell me her FB small's for $50 (all 24 of them!) and I'm thinking of stuffing them with prefolds or like I mentioned above, with the gdiaper insert. I just hate throwing away all these diapers. I don't know what's going to go on with work after baby is born tho. I could potentially have to return to work at 8 weeks (more likely than not actually).

I was considering putting DS in gdiapers now (in the medium size) and trying them on him, then we'll have the practice and the bigger size we'll eventually need anyway. I'd need to find a good deal on them though, because I just can't spend retail on them, their so darn expensive.

What about the Bummis I see in the big boxes (I think I have anyway) at stores like Babies R Us, what kind of diaps are those?

I used them a couple times, and didn't like them. Just too messy.

I didn't really like the Gdiapers, but we used cloth inserts and prefolds in them. They leaked for us, and I could never get the inserts in just right. You can always try a liner in your current diapers. We have flushable ones, and some we made from a fleece blanket. They may help with diaper rash, and the flushable ones are easy for babysitters and DHs because they can just flush them away.

use them with a prefold on the inside next to baby.
This should clear up what seemingly sounds like a synthetic intolerance to the FB.
The natural fibers of the prefold should help the diapering environment

I also use the covers with prefolds and LOVE them! I don't like the liners, too many snaps to deal with at the moment....and I also really love the old style NOT the new style.

Love 'em. We use them with our toddler mostly with the inserts (we flush). We only wash covers once a week or so and then only for vague ideas about hygenie. DS takes out maybe one cover a week. Poop will usually take the liner but only rarely will it take out the cover. We'll go months... We are currently prepping some gcloth to use instead. Seriously, I think they are genius, especially with cloth inserts. The liners are genius.

There are also a few WAHM who make specially sized inserts for them.

We use fuzzibunz with the baby but will switch to gdipes when she gets old enough for a medium. I was going to do all cloth and then I realized I could save a ton of water with gdipes instead.

There is a very active yahoo group, the majority of whom use cloth inserts, including many who use other cloth and covers. You might want to give it a scan first. Lots of used covers for sale.

If you are seeing gel you've waited too long to change. Floating around is common and fine.

We liked L gdiapers w/ an infant pf tri-folded inside. I LOVED how trim it was. We could fit jeans over them easily. I wouldn't use them on a newborn bf baby. That's personal though. It might work fine but ... I like a fitted for newborns poo.
