I am looking to purchase a good breast pump. Any recommendations?

I love my Medela Pump-in-Style. It's an electric double pump and works wonderfully. Good luck!

Yep I really like my Pump in style too. Works great!

I also have the Medela Pump in Style and have had no problems with it. I use it 4 days a week when I am at work.

i have the less expensive medela swing single pump. It works great and I pump 3 times a day every day. If you are on a budget as I am it's a great choice imo.

Depends on what you need it for. A pump in style is great, but if you are wanting it for the occasional pump or even with work but only being used once a day (like if you are at work for only 5 hours or something) I would go with an avent isis hand pump. I have used multiple pumps for exclusive pumping and the isis worked better then even the hospital grade double electric, BUT because it is a hand pump, it would be hard on your wrists for multiple times a day every day.

I've heard that the Pump in Style is hard to keep clean b/c of the tubing design, but I've never used one so I don't know for sure. I have a used Ameda Purely Yours and it's really nice - much less expensive than the Medela and a real workhorse of a breast pump. Mine is on its fourth baby and still going strong. My SIL has the same model, and hers is on its seventh baby and hasn't died yet. I highly recommend it. It's also really easy to use and to clean - the tubing is a self-contained unit and doesn't need to be cleaned. If you get a used one they're quite affordable.

I LOVE my medela pump in style too - on our 2nd baby. For me the others did not work (had a mini electric and manual)...took an hour to get an ounce. With the pump in style I get like 5-6 oz in about 10 mins. Have you seen the Medela new hands free? wish that was around when I bought....

I'm not the OP, but I had the same question...

I have a choice to buy a Medela Pump-in-Style or a Ameda Purely Yours, and I can't decide which one would be better? (I'll have to go back to work fairly soon after the baby is born, and when not working I'll probably want to pump to get grow a stash of milk anyway)

We had a Pump 'n Style and it was infallible through 2 babies. Tubing a little messy sometimes but we just washed it. The cones that fit over the nipple come in different sizes - maybe I was just still cloudy-headed but I didn't realize that right away and had trouble with the fit of the first set. Much better with larger ones.

I had the same luck with both of them. The Purely Yours is a lot cheaper.

The Medela Pump in Style did not work at all for me (though it looks like I'm in the minority here). I use the Avent Isis, which is manual, and works great for me. If it is possible, I would recommend trying the pump first. (I know that's not always possible, maybe only if you know someone who has one?)

I have a PY and love it. It is smaller than the PIS (it fits in my purse easily) and is the only one on the market that is certified to be used by multiple users (closed system). I bought mine used for $70 on baby #1. It has been used now for 19 months total, 5 days a week, 2x a day and shows no sign of stopping anytime soon.
