So the public schools are providing free swine flu vax and the nasal mist for the seasonal flu. I'm sure the free factor and the during school hours factor will increase the number of kids who get it.
Here is my dilemma. From what I've read the nasal mist sheds, putting people around those who receive it at a higher risk of catching the flu. My kids will be in a school building/bus for 9 hours a day with many, many kids (and staff) who have just received it. I doubt all the grades will get it in one day, but over the course a few days so that they are always around a group who has recently had it. That doesn't feel good to me. Wwyd? Pull your kids for a few days? (hey- we've been wanting a vaca!
) Suck it up and know they might get sick? Suck it up even more and get them the mist? I'm at a loss here and don't really have a zillion hours to research it all.
I'd love to hear what you are doing if your kids are in schools with the same program and a population who will mostly take the m up on the offer.
Thanks!
