Ugh. I cannot shake this virus. Does anyone have idea of what to do - I have not had an appetite or any energy since Wed. afternoon - I don't want to eat and then I force myself to eat something and I cannot eat without causing diarrhea. I am staying hydrated. All the other symptoms of sore throat, fever, congestion, etc. are fading, but the the naseau and the GI distress seem here to stay. My doula (who thinks this is H1N1 viruse and is a little worried) gave me a diet to follow but it doesn't seem to be working. I have lost 7 pounds is 5 days. I will call by OB tomorrow, but if anyone has any ideas on how to soothe my stomach - PLEASE let me know!

Oh, dear - sorry to read this!
Probiotics might help you, esp. if virus is in your dig. system...
Herbal Bitters (by Salus Haus, Floradix maker)
http://www.iherb.com/Flora-Salus-Hau..._medium=x&at=0
is helpful, get digestive juices going, and works if anything has slowed the natural production down.
Also, Papaya Enzymes, if you are eating anything with protein = just helps with digestion and it makes it easier on you.
Miso soup is great - easily digestible, like PP suggested.
Light chicken soup, steamed veggies... something that you can eat and digest easily, so, no heavy foods...
Quinoa with yogurt might be also good for you...
Baked apple ...
Great antiviral/antibacterial syrup is made of Elderberries, Sambucus Original Syrup(Nature's Way makes it), from local Health food store - check it out...

If the other symptoms are fading, appetite is usually the last one to come back, so it sounds like you're turning the corner now actually. It stinks to be this sick at the end of pregnancy, but hopefully you've built some good antibodies and you'll get through the flu season a little easier!! Especially if it is H1N1, be HAPPY that you got it now when you don't have a newborn to care for!! Hopefully baby will acquire some placental immunities to this particular virus, too.
In the meantime, it sounds like you're doing everything right...stay as hydrated as possible, eat what you can (focus on light protein, the typical BRAT diet that drs used to recommend for digestive viruses is void of protein and new research is suggesting it's not the most ideal for helping the body heal). REST REST REST of course
When you do eat, maybe try just a few bites every hour or so, don't eat any more than that. Your digestive tract probably can't handle the volume.
Good luck!!!! Here's hoping that you'll feel better soon, have time to recover some strength, and then have an easy labor and wonderful birth!!!
