I would totally do that and would hope that my friends would do that for me as well. How heartwarming and wonderful to know that this baby who lost his mama gets this wonderful closeness with so many women (the great nourishment too)

That is so wonderful, and what an AMAZING story for the boy to grow up with. I imagine that would have a very significant impact on how he feels about women, mothers, and especially breastfeeding once he is grown and perhaps ready to have a family of his own.

How wonderful those women are!

Amazing.

My husband and I were talking about what we would do in a situation where I could not breastfeed--which is pretty likely in several months--and cannot ship milk back home or if something happened to me: we'll just put her on formula. The idea of another woman breastfeeding/providing milk for my baby skeeves him.

Beautiful and sad.

I had a pact with lactating friends that if anything happened to either of us we would nurse each other's babies. My DH knew who to call if something happened to me.

That is absolutely incredible! What I wouldn't give to know I had a community of women like them to rally around my family if something happened to me.

I will admit when I first read the headline I got confused who was trying to breastfeed, the women or the widower...Yeah pregnancy brain is great!
