Bean with Bacon soup

This probably sounds crazy, but does anyone have a recipe for bean with bacon soup - something similar to the Campbell's variety? I really, really, really REALLY love it, but I know nothing good can really come from a can full of msg and BPA. I'm not talented in the kitchen at all (but I'm trying), so I'm hoping this would be something easy to make. Any recipes would be awesome.

Just subscribing because I also love Campbell's BwB soup. It has been one of my favorite comfort foods since I was a kid! Mmm Mmm Good!

Ohhh, I want to know, too!

If anyone likes Campbell's Split Pea soup, here's a recipe that is close:

We eat a lot of Ham and Beans (the good old fashioned kind). I haven't eaten the Campbell's soup your talking about, but if you substituted bacon for the ham in Ham and Beans, that might be what you're looking for. There are as many ways to make H&B as there are grandmas in the world, so your best bet is to just google for it. Good luck!

That's one of my childhood comfort foods as well. I'm hoping someone here has something similar....

I haven't tried this but, it's from that recipe duplication site:

This recipe from CDKitchen for Campbell`s Bean & Bacon Soup serves/makes 4
Ingredients:
2 cups navy beans -- soaked overnight
6 strips crispy fried bacon -- minced
3 medium carrots -- minced
3 medium celery stalks -- minced
1 medium onion -- minced
1/2 teaspoon thyme
2 cloves garlic -- minced
4 ounces tomato paste
1 dash red pepper flakes
6 cups water, more if needed
2 cups ham stock, if available -- decrease water
1 tablespoon wine vinegar
few drops liquid Barbecue Smoke® -- optional
salt and pepper -- to taste

Directions:

Soak beans overnight and discard water. Place all ingredients except wine vinegar, salt and pepper in a large kettle. Simmer until beans are tender (about 3 hours) .(substituting 1 or 2 cups of ham stock for 1 or 2 cups of water gives this soup an extra depth of flavor)

Puree 1 to 2 cups of soup and return to pot. Add wine vinegar and liquid smoke, mix well. Salt and pepper to taste. Serve with hot cornbread and honey.
