Free patterns for huge babies?

Can you please help me out, mamas? I need a free pattern for my friend's 12 month old, who basically will not fit into any diaper he has tried on so far. There are a few free patterns out there that I like, but I haven't discovered one for him yet. His thighs are fatter than my three yo, and my one size pockets won't fit him. What do you recommend?

Can you take a pattern that is designed for a baby his weight, and extend the rise? Cut the pattern across the crotch, and tape a 3-4 inch extension to the pattern. Extend the elastic to what seems right, and make them that way. Only make one to start with to try on him. Kymberli

Thnx (somehow you always run into the same folks on diaper making ). I will try that. I guess I would have to extend the front part which you stick the velcro on with too.

Use a pattern designed for his waist size. Lower the rise as necessary and hem to his length.

The Ottobre pattern fits big, and then the Bramblestitches pattern from Backwoods home magazine is big too.
