OBGYN or MW

Hi! I am getting insurance in Nov. and want to start making appointments so I can get in right after it kicks in. I know its hard to get appointments so I thought I would start now!

I want to use a midwife once I get pregnant. Can I use a midwife for all the infertility testing or should I see an OBGYN first and then switch when the time comes?

Thank you!

There is a lot to consider here, more then you think. Hospital birth or homebirth? IF homebirth are you in a legal or illegal or grey area state? Are you wanting to use natural methods to resolve you infertility? or do you want to use western medicine? A HB midwife will use natural methods, but will not have you tested using western medicine. An OBGYN will use western meds, ut may take offense about you leaving the practice for a midwife. They may not treat you at all, and may refuse to have you in thier practice. If you want western meds, I would see an OBGYN, I would NOT tell them you want a HB ( if that is what you want). OR if you can find a FP doc who does a lot of infertility work, and dosent mind that they wont be delivering the baby. The latter is what I have found, but I am in a MW legal state. When I was in Ohio, I had to lie and pretend they would delive the baby. so, lots to think about!

I am ok with western medicine to figure out what is wrong. I would just like to know what is wrong. 13 cycles and counting... we don't want to wait any longer. I probably wont tell them they that they won't be delivering. I don't want a home birth, just a non-medicated birth at a birth center.

I would say to see a ob/gyn specifically one who specializes in fertility issues. I say this because there honestly is a difference is practice and experience dealing with couples with fertility "issues" even if any issues are later ruled out I (IMO) would rather see someone who would also be able to treat me if a issue was present (KWIM?)
