I've been having an ongoing issue with Connor's school regarding carseats on his school bus, and I've been talking with a CPST at our local fire dept. She had a packet of information for me to give to his transportation dept, and I stopped at the fire dept this afternoon on my way home.
The office was already closed, so I walked around to the garage where a bunch of firemen were sitting around chatting. One of them saw me walking up, obviously VERY pregnant, probably waddling a bit, and jumped up quickly gesturing towards me. Two of his partners turned around, saw me, and jumped up too.
I was confused at first, am I not allowed to enter the garage or something?? THey started coming towards me and one of them called out "ma'am, are you okay? Do you need some help?" That's when I realized why they all jumped up!
I said no, I'm not in labor, don't worry, I'm just here to pick something up, and they all laughed and then one of them went into the office to get the packet for me. While I was waiting they asked me how far along I was, when my other's were born, how I was feeling, etc and I said "sorry to scare you guys, what you didn't want to deliver a baby today?" They laughed and said that while they're certainly trained, they'd prefer not to.
Ah...that just put a smile on my face
Men! Even medically trained men freak out about this!!
