Need honest opinion

Ok--I have had TONS of problems BFing my 3 babes, mainly because I live in a rural town with NO local support. I really want to start some sort of breastfeeding company--starting with just breast pump rentals and moving on from there. I want to call it "Momma knows breast" but my DH says I might get the wrong kind of phone calls... IYHO, should I keep the name or lose it?

i like the name but im not sure my friends who are more main stream would feel ok going into that store.....

Hmm...I totally see the sense in it, but nonetheless not sure I could relate to it. But I'm from the UK and we don't have much of a sense of humour .

keep it. same concept as "my breast friend" and people love that. plus if you bring a sense of humor to something it helps take away the "discomfort" some people feel around the subject.

I say it's fine. To be safe, when you design the logo and advertising make sure you have a visible tag line that makes the purpose of the company obvious.

You're going to get silly phone calls no matter what you call it. Whenever I post milk on milkshare I get grown men wanting my milk. You'll always have the weirdos.

I would be careful with that one. In some areas it would be great, but in an are where there are not a lot of breastfeeders it may make some people uncomfortable. Also, if you decide to sell more items as time goes on, those items may not ALL be breastfeeding items and you want to attract the biggest customer base you can. A FF mother may feel reluctance to go into a store with Breast in the name.

As a market research specialist, I feel you need to do some market research - not on MDC but in the community where your store will be located.

Perhaps you could come up with 3 or so names, then conduct an informal survey among mothers at the hospital where people give birth or something like that. Find out how much people like EACH name (like very much, like it okay, don't like it much, don't like at all), and then get them to rank the names from favorite to least favorite.

Instead of just finding out how much they like the names, ideally you would also have a question such as:

How likely would you be to go into a store named "X" for breastfeeding supplies and help: very likely, somewhat likely, not very likely, not at all likely. Then repeat for name "Y", then for name "Z"

Oh - and why not also study to be a lactation consultant and provide lactation consulting services as well!
