What size clothes/brands are your 8-9lb babies wearing? All my kiddos were under 6 lbs so I have no idea what to have ready for Belle who is over 8lbs. Thanks so much! Anyone have longies that fit? If so what are the measurements?

Much LOve!

Katelynn was 8lbs 1 oz at birth, she fit into the "newborn" stuff (we have lots from Carters..) That fit pretty well for 2 weeks, we are now onto 0-3 months stuff, and she was up to 8lbs 8 oz last week at 16 days old.

My first was 9lbs, 11oz and he was in size 0-3 right away, none of the newborn sizes fit him at all from the start. He was firmly in size 3 months (or 3-6 months) after about four weeks.

My 9.5 pounder wore 0-3 months for a few weeks, then went right into 3-6 months. He wore size 1 diapers from birth, and moved to size 2 pretty quick. But if I remember correctly, he stayed in 3-6 month clothes and size 2 diapers for a while.

My 8.5 pounder lost a lot of weight and took a LONG time to gain it back, so he wore newborn clothes (even some preemie clothes) for a while. In fact, I had to go BUY some newborn clothes, because I didn't have any after my first was so big!!

It depends a lot on where the baby carries his/her weight. If it's in length, you'll have more of a problem getting onesies and sleepers to fit. But if baby is just chunky, then things will fit for longer probably. Depends on what kind of diapers you use, too, if you use sposies, they take up less room in the clothes, cloths are more bulky so you might have to go up a clothing size sooner.

Mine was 8lb2oz and she is fitting newborn size, she'll be in 0-3 in a couple weeks i guess. She is wearing newborn size diapers as well.

Our Chunka-Dunk is 9lbs 6oz, 21 inches. The newborn stuff fits him perfectly. It's not worth the money to go buy more though. I think 0-3 will fit him for a while. It's a bit big on him right now, but he's not swimming in it.

Oh, and 2boyz brings up a good point. They loose weight after birth. He was 8 lbs 12 oz yesterday.

Jocelyn was 8lbs. 3oz. At birth. She will be 4 weeks old tomorrow and is still in nb clothes (our whole wardrobe is Carters) and nb diapers, but I think this will be changing very soon.

She was 9lbs. 6oz. Last week.

Both my girls were about 8lbs. (1 a tiny bit under and one a bit over) and they fit into NB stuff.....I would imagine a 6lber. having to wear premie stuff....so I think NB would be the next size up.

I think even a 9lber would be swimming in 0-3/3mos. stuff, unless they were super long. I wouldn't buy a whole lot of NB (depending on how your babe grows) but they will definitely be swimming in 0-3/3mos. size in the beginning.

Ds was 10+lbs. and 23" and fit into 0-3/3mos. size for about 2 weeks.

ETA: Sorry just saw this on new posts....didn't mean to ddc crash.

Keagan was only 7lb 9oz, and he still easily fits in preemie clothes. Newborn are still floppy on him, but ok. 0-3 would be HUGE on him. My daughter was well over 8, but 0-3 were huge on her for a good month after she was born- she was only 18 3/4 inches long though. Keagan was 21 inches long at birth, and I suspect the preemie will be too short before it's too tight.

Charlotte was 8lbs, 13oz as of her appt yesterday....and she's still firmly in nb sizes. (gerber onesies size 0/3m fit her right, ftr! )

I keep trying her OH SO CUTE 0/3m clothing on her and she is still absolutely swimming in them. It won't be long though...

Oh - and she was 18inches at birth and is now 21inches.

not in this group, but my 10 lb, 5 oz baby wore 0-3 tightly and I 3-6 pretty comfortably. She was in 12 month by the time she was 4 months, but stayed in that for another 6 months....
