My 13 yo dd uses her tv time to watch General Hospital? She really gets into it. She tells me all about it when it's over but I sometimes have a hard time keeping track of who is who. :LOL

Sometimes I think she is a little obsessive. I mean I watched GH when I was a teen (I think I was a little bit older though but that doesn't really matter. ) but I don't think I was that into it.

Anybody else's teen/preteen into soaps or anything like that my dd?

not my dd, she is a music video kid. She loves to sing and dance. She only watches limited tv though, so if she were allowed more tv time maybe she would watch soap operas

Rain has unlimited tv time, but the only time she watched soaps was when we were living with my terminally ill mom, and she'd watch her grandma's soap with her and they'd talk about it. I was GH-obsessed back in the Luke and Laura days, though...

I think obsessive interests are normal for preteens and young teens, it's some sort of developmental thing. Some kids get into their favorite musical group - Rain has a 13 yr old friend who is totally obsessed with one group to the point where she knows all the band members' favorite foods and favorite tv shows...

Rain gets obsessed with various musicals or movie/musicals, one after another... we buy the video, she learns the dances and songs and quotes long strings of dialogue... and then just when I think my head will explode if I see Roy Schieder in a body bag one more time, she started watching Pippin...
