15 minute sessions of cleaning ... anyone want to join me? - Page 11

Thanks PoetryLover and JacquelineR! I did actually get like 90% of the dishes done last night. I also got a load of clothes folded and put away, a load folded and 2 loads waiting to be folded. My daughter (she's 5) is really enjoying beating the timer, so I'm hoping we can finish the kitchen and the clothes this afternoon. Maybe I can throw some food in the crockpot and hubs can help with the rest of the house when he gets home from work. Have a great day everyone!

For today, I had...

1 - wash diapers (IN PROGRESS)
2 - fold laundry (IN PROGRESS)
3- dishes
4 - prep dinner (DONE)
5 - organize and fax some paperwork (DONE)
6 - make Dr. appointment
7 - dust (DONE)
8 - vacuum
9 - clean kitchen counters

Gettin' there, slowly but surely. Oh yeah, and this doesn't really fall under chores, OR something that can be done in 15 minutes, but I can do parts of it as children allow... got to do two homework assignments. One is a 5-page rough draft. Good thing I type fast.

SeekingSerenity, a lot of my "organizing chores/administrative tasks" aren't technically cleaning, but they're things I need to get done. I find that if I focus on them 15 minutes at a time, I can chip away at them until they're complete. I bet you could get your paper written in a number of 15 minute sessions.

3- dishes (DONE)
4 - prep dinner (DONE).. tonight it's Make Lunch for DH, which is IN PROGRESS
5 - organize and fax some paperwork (DONE)

7 - dust (DONE)
8 - vacuum (DONE, need to do again!)
9 - clean kitchen counters (DONE)

Tomorrow...

Anyone mind if I jump on the bandwagon? I've been working FT for the past three months, and have let the house get completely out of control once again.

Today is my last day before my temporary layoff, and I'd like to get the following done before I go into work at noon EST:

1) Clear kitchen table and counters
2) Wash kitchen floor
3) Clear clutter in living room
4) Vacuum and dust living room
5) Start a load of laundry
6) Clean bathroom

I've already gotten a lot of clutter picked up already, in 15-minute bursts, but my next goal is to finish picking up the living room in the next one.

It's nice to be back! I can always count on you wonderful decluttering folks to help me get my head back on straight after a long absence!

Welcome Conteuse! I hope you get a lot accomplished this morning.

For myself, I got a little done yesterday until I began not to feel so well. I've been sleeping horribly lately and think it's catching up with me. Today I will take it slow & easy, listing one goal at a time until they are each complete. I will likely do the usual (make bed, wash dishes, fold laundry) and maybe tackle something larger (my Control Journal).

Anyone who desires to join in, feel free. These sessions really do work.

I feel like cr@p today. Fibro fog, fatigue, tummy ache, the whole 9 yards. Not getting much done.

Working on it, though...

1 - clean front bathroom
2 - mop kitchen
3 - more laundry (IN PROGRESS)
4 - more homework
5 - pay bills
6 - clean out fridge (DONE)

In the first session I made the bed and washed the dishes. The next session I will quickly wipe down the bathroom (also known as the swish and swipe) and fold/put away a load of laundry.

SeekingSerenity, I'm sorry to hear that you are not feeling well.

Well, out of my list, I accomplished a surprising amount. It helped that my cousin, the professional house-cleaner, came over for a couple of hours. Hired help can sometimes be a very good thing!

1) Clear kitchen table and counters <--Table is cleared, counters are wiped but still have a few things on them. I ran out of time. It will be done tomorrow, though!

2) Wash kitchen floor <--I don't think this got done, but happily, there was so much utter junk on the floor that it didn't get that dirty!

3) Clear clutter in living room <-- Done, except for some things that DH faithfully assures me he will put out into his shed tomorrow.

4) Vacuum and dust living room <-- Done, done, done! I could sing!

5) Start a load of laundry <-- Alas, not done. Planning to do it tonight. At least the laundry is caught up, so we only have one load to do!

6) Clean bathroom <-- Done, done, done! All right, I AM singing now!

Thank you for your encouragement. It helped simply to post my goals.

Loving this thread!

Well this morning my 15 was to wipe down all the counters and appliances, clean the table, then I mopped the kitchen floor. It looked so clean all I wanted to do was go bake in there, but I don't want to have to do another 15 in there tonight

i'm joining you! lots of house guests making the rounds, post jet-lag, post a bad cold, and two months of my partner being a bachelor in the house (he really did rather well) and the place needs some serious attention.

DONE 1. laundry folded away
STARTED 2. guest bedlinens reset to GO
3. cloth napkins washed (i'll hang some on our radiators so we can actually use them at dinner, hopefully)
DONE 4. one more round of dishes
5. hot spot number 1 (desk)
DONE 6. hot spot number 2 (bedroom chair)

i've just gone through ALL of our art production + scrap papers from the last year, and sorted out our favourites, organised arts + crafts shelves according to media, and it looks great

(okay, that's 1, 2, 4 + 6 done, 45 minutes til my fil arrives!!) and i forgot #7. put suitcases in the loft.

Woo Hoo! I was hoping to get it all done, but I think I made a pretty decent dent. I need to get on it every single day for at least an hour to get ahead of everything. I definitely love setting my timer on the stove and knowing I can move on to something else once that timer goes off.

Welcome to the thread and congratulations on your progress! It does feel good to see what you accomplish and 15 minute sessions make the whole process less intimidating.

Kudos to you!!!!!

I also wanted to take a moment to welcome Mommabean and muttix2 to the thread.

Today was my lazy day. I did absolutely nothing and I don't feel guilty. LOL. I did carve jack-o-lanterns with my husband and that was fun.

Tomorrow I'll jump back on the thread with some fifteen minute sessions.
