15 minute sessions of cleaning ... anyone want to join me? - Page 15

yesterday:
dishes
2 loads laundry washed and dried
laundry that's been sitting in a basket for 3 weeks finally put away
5 minute room rescue- corner room
15 minute room rescue- living room
5 minute room rescue- bathroom
5 minute room rescue- master bedroom
swept

today (so far)
laundry 1/2 load folde
dishes
went through ds3's clothes and put outgrown into donation box
went through ds2's old clothes and put away clothes ds3 can use
fold 1 1/2 loads laundry
run delicates through dryer again and hang
5 minute room rescue- kitchen

still to do:
wash 1 wall downstairs
5 minute room rescue- pantry

okay.

DONE morning routine, then:

DONE 1. fold away white laundry
DONE 2. weekly cleaning hour
DONE 3. prepare guest bedding
DONE 4. lay things out for the sitter (dinner, nightclothes, snacks) + for leaving tonight
DONE 5. pack for dance class


choose from things i'd like to do:

help my tall girl start making her cloth doll
sew under-sink curtains
pot up the cutting
read aloud from little house
start my next knitting project
put up opaque layer on windows

also i should do another round of yogurt (last one was only 1litre) x this can wait til tomorrow.
and cool + store chicken stock.

pretty fun day actually

one more!! take out the compost...

Okay so today this is what I have scheduled....

1 - more laundry (it NEVER STOOOOOPSSS!!!!! )
2 - marinate pork chops for dinner
3 - decorate pine cones (more kid-crafts)
4 - reformat hard drive on DS's computer
5 - litter box duty
6 - sort through some clothes to donate to

(nice plug there, eh?? )

Heheh.... I actually have some energy today. Burning the midnight oil caught up to me yesterday, apparently. I have to stay up really late as it's my only time to concentrate on homework. Well, I had no assignments last night, and I ended up falling asleep with the kids at 8:45. I vaguely recall DH popping his head into my room to ask if I had school work, and I mumbled no, and that was it. I didn't wake up till the kids did at 7:30 this morning. . AMAZING! Chronic insomnia sucks... so I definitely notice those days where I've gotten a decent night's sleep. (Decent being the only reason I wake up is to nurse - and of course I only wake up about 20% for that...)

Jumping in...

- steam and freeze greens
- catch up on a few emails I've been meaning to get to
- do some paperwork
- do banking
- 20 minute pick up DONE
- clean up downstairs DONE
- sweep DONE
- finish 2 loads of laundry (then I will be all caught up! ) WOULD BE DONE BUT THE STUPID DRAIN CLOGGED AND WATER POURED EVERYWHERE!!

I also sorted through all the toys and put any stray pieces back where they belong. And I made soup for dinner. But, sheesh...it sure does feel like I did more than that!

Oh, I wanted to add that someday (wistfully dreaming) I want to own a house, and one of the things I want is the kind of old-fashioned kitchen where I can have under-sink curtains.

-change and launder towels
-put away laundry folded yesterday
-thaw steak for supper for sitter (MIL) and kids

*put washing into dryer Done!
*take off bedding in little's room & put in wash

*put away biggest child's clean clothes(which have been sitting in a basket since last week)
*tidy kitchen
*quick vacuum of sittingroom, little ones room & kitchen areas Done!
*little one's bedroom rescue Done!

Ok, I am overwhelmed, but I am not stupid... LOL! I am making a list of things I want to accomplish, but not neccessarily WILL accomplish. :-)

Regular Tasks
  1. -Zack to hip hop at 3:30 - SKIPPED! he went down the road and didn't make it back in time :-(
  2. -Supper - DONE!
  3. -Dishes Load one - DONE!
  4. -Dishes Load two - DONE!
  5. -Dishes Load three - DONE!
  6. -Dishes Load Four - DONE!
  7. -Laundry Load one - DONE!
  8. -Laundry Load two - DONE!
  9. -Laundry Load thee - IN DRYER!
  10. -Laundry Load four - IN WASHER!
  11. -Make Zack a pair of shorts
  12. -Homeschool - DONE!
  13. -264 emails to work through - now at 200!
  14. -a ton of blog posts to write and schedule (literally a TON!)

House Clean Up and Out
  1. -corner cabinet cleaned off
  2. -kitchen counters cleaned off - DONE!
  3. -deep freeze cleaned off
  4. -fridge clean out
  5. -halloween packed up (dh to put tote in attic)
  6. -review products organized and/or put away (if review done)

whew, that looks really difficult, but that is ok! Before finding this forum, here is what I did today:
  1. 2 blog posts
  2. 100 emails
  3. babysat my niece for almost 2 hours
  4. 1 load of dishes
  5. completed Tripp's shorts
  6. submitted my site to a TON of search engines
  7. spent much too long hanging out on forums. LOL!

ok, I didn't get as much done as I wanted, but I am happy with my accomplishments. :-) Tomorrow is another day. See you then, maybe with an early start I can do more. :-)

added 11/05 - Before heading to bed last night, I also picked up and vaccummed the living room. It wasn't even on my list! LOL! I have two corners in here that I would like to tackle but that is for another day.

getting nowhere fast today..
ds3 is teething hard today which in turn makes ds2 100xs more clingy as well so i'm trapped on the couch hoping i'll get them both down for a nap

Welcome to the thread! We just choose tasks (cleaning, organizing, etc.) that can be accomplished in 15 minute increments. Some tasks take longer, so we may spend a number of 15 minute sessions on those tasks. The idea is to break jobs down into smaller components that aren't so overwhelming. Some of us will make a list of all that we need to accomplish on a given day and then update the list as we make progress (similar to what you've done). Others will just write our goals for one fifteen minute session at a time. For me a 15 minute session might be to make my bed, wipe down the bathroom and start a load of laundry OR to wash dishes and clean the counter. I've been known to make a list for what I need to accomplish on a given day and I've also just posted goals for one session at a time. It depends on my mood and how "overwhelmed" I may feel.

Anyhow, good luck! This thread has helped me out a great deal. Plus, 15 minute increments of cleaning give one an opportunity to rest in between sessions and to see the progress made.

Ya know, I think I will take "laundry" off the list... I am doing it EVERY day, so it's pretty much a given!! HA! Except some days I am sick of it and I think, okay, we got underwear, socks and clothes for today, so put it off till tomorrow. Because seriously, it gets old. I'm sure ya'll know that!

I didn't reformat the hard drive yet because yesterday I couldn't find the boot disks. I had a set of disks but they turned out to be for DH's computer. I found DS's disks last night though, so maybe I'll actually get that done today.

1 - kitchen clean-up
2 - de-calcify (clean) coffee maker
3 - take a walk
4 - organize Christmas crafts to be done (ornaments and stuff)
5 - make deviled eggs
6 - sweep front porch
7 - call WIC to find out when my appointment is
8 - clean/polish tables in living room

Yesterday I got some additional stuff done, namely vacuuming (especially after the pine cone craft that involved what seemed like half a ton of glitter) and re-potting one of my plants.

Don't fall into that trap!! Even if I have to do it every day, it still goes on my list because I might do it for a few days if it's NOT on my list but then I get lazy about it.

Yeah, it is for DH too. He keeps inviting friends along.
