Talk me into buying a 4th carrier

Tell me why I need another carrier and which kind. I currently have an ergo (no infant insert), home made moby wrap and a pouch sling (little star). I used them all a lot last time but now I'm kind of hankering after a new wrap for this baby (due Feb). Help to talk me into it ladies.

I am a SSC lover.... But for a wrap I would go with a wrap-n-wear. I have one and I really love the fabric- it is light weight guase- but holds tight.

Well, it's hard to talk you into it, because you have a great stash already! Personally, I don't like gauze wraps, since they aren't very forgiving when wrapping and you tend to feel them (pressure points) on them more than other wraps. You have a stretchy wrap, a pouch and a buckle carrier. I think if you'd like another one, I'd get either a mei tai or a woven wrap, like Neobulle, Girasol, Storch, Hoppediz or other comfortable woven wraps.

With and Ergo, a wrap and a pouch you have everything covered. Spend the money you have allocated to the sling on something else

Aack! The internet ate my post. Let me try again.

I would go with a woven wrap, either a Girasol or a Neobulle is a great choice for a newborn, but will take you well into toddlerhood.

I am still using my Girasols and my Neobulle with my 3 1/2 year old DS.

Do you have any color preferences? I would love to point you to some beautiful wraps based on what colors you like!

Sigh. I know you're right but I feel like I'm missing out on trying out something new and cool. Maybe I will get a hand me down or a gift.

You could get a babyhawk, if you really want to try something new. I'm pretty new to babywearing though!

Where to begin... there are so many carriers to try!! If you have a stretchy wrap already, I vote for a woven wrap. They are fabulous for newborns all the way to toddlers.

My second vote is for a mei tai, they rock as well.

You're having a new baby! If you want a new carrier for your new babe, get it! You can find them used on www.thebabywearer.com if money is an issue.

I love woven wraps above all over carriers, so I'll absolutely support your desire for a fourth carrier! Woven wraps are the most versatile and great for newborn to preschooler--great value!

I'd go for one of the brands Giselle mentioned. Get it used to save money, and if you don't like it, sell it back!

More likely you'll love it and sell one of your other, now dusty, carriers

New plan!

I looked at the woven wraps but they are so expensive. Then I remembered that my friend brought me some gorgeous fabric from Indonesia. It's too short for a wrap but I think it is perfect for a ring sling. It is 40 inches wide and 2 1/2 feet long. All the edges are finished already and it is reversible. It's a light weight cotton. I thought I could probably follow this pattern. What do you think?

It would satisfy my urge for a fun new sling without costing me anything except for the rings. I'm excited!

Did you mean to write 2 1/2 feet long? That's a bit short for a ring sling. Or is it 2 1/2 yards long?

Also, I'd use this pattern instead. I find the shoulder of it to be much more comfortable than the old Maya Wrap shoulder.

if you've got a beautiful piece of cloth, why not learn to tie a slip knot and wear it as a rebozo? you can also buy the sling rings, but youdon't have to sew it, you can do a no sew ring sling (instructions are on the sleepingbaby.net website). that way if you want to use it as a shawl or scarf after you're done with wearing babies, it will still be in one piece.

but my vote if you're buying is to get a mei tai. they are my favorite with smaller babies, i'd say a Kozy or a babyhawk, at least those are my two favorites

Thanks for all the tips. Sorry, I meant 2 1/2 yards. I'm bookmarking the other links.
