I'm 98.6. Minus 82 that leaves 16.6. Much too cold for me. (LOL)

I like the summer Caribbean when the water is 100.

I could meet up with ya'll if C wakes up from his nap in time. Maybe I'll give you a call when he wakes up, though it's sometimes not until 3 or so.

That sounds good. However, I'll probably be leaving around 3 or so for our nap to start.

Have you offered to share here: http://www.mothering.com/discussions....php?t=1056505

i havent offered there yet....

i was NOT intending to get them for the girls for a long while... i wanted the to be way older.

How did she get them. It's so rare to find and then to get them without intending to...wow. Is Olive still nursing?

I have NO. IDEA. lol

of all the people to get them- this is astounding.

We live like hermits, i purposely avoided the outbreaks I knew of.

There is a very strong possibility that she was exposed on our road trip but so far no one we hooked up with at any point has them or any symptoms.

She is still nursing, quite a lot. and fortunately for me- my milk recently increased again so she is getting some help via my milk.

im POSITIVE that the lack of sleep, poorer diet and stress of traveling contributed to this outbreak.... but now that we have it, we are just rolling with it.

i just wish keira would start breaking out in sores so that I dont have to be house bound two or three weeks in a row. I like being home, but not 24 hours a day.

Sarah,

Do you know how the chicken coop tour went last time? I see they are looking for coop owners for the second tour in December and I'm considering signing on if it was a good experience.

Hi Jen- sorry to hear the girls have the chicken pox when you didn't want them too! I hope they're better soon and we'll be seeing you at the park. We've finally been able to go again lately-we've missed you guys!

Pam, we had a blast doing the chicken tour. It was a really fun way to meet people, build community, etc. It was much busier than we expected--both Rob and I were busy the entire time, because they were several groups at a time coming and going (I think we got a TON of people because we live so centrally, so you would probably have a similar experience). So if you do it you want definitely want to have 2 adults there, and maybe even a friend over to help with the kids, etc. Though Aaron is old enough that he may be a good helper! Carter had the time of his life meeting kids that came by and playing with the chickens.

I'm not sure if we're going to do it again because we will have just returned home from 2 weeks away, and we are currently angry at our chickens (they have escaped their yard twice and eaten the entire garden. the garden started to recover and was eaten again this morning). we're working to keep them better contained, and if we're successful I'm guessing we'll do the coop tour again because it was a lot of fun. It was very well organized--Torey at food conspiracy is great.

I'll talk to my husband, but that sounds like something I'd like to do. You're right, my guy would have a blast being tour guide.

Regarding chickens escaping. We have a roof over the pen. The chickens would jump over the gate to a game of suicide by dog. We put a piece of shade cloth hanging from the roof down to the top of the gate. It's been enough to keep our chickens in (most of the time.) I don't know what your setup is like, but maybe you could use some version of that.

When deciding about vaccines, this is the book we read:

http://www.amazon.com/What-Doctor-Ab...4849492&sr=8-1

It starts out by telling you how scary the diseases are then tells you how scary the vaccines are and lets you make up your own mind. Readers can email the doctor with vaccine questions. She's always given me good info. Here's what she says about H1N1:

PER DR CAVE,

I DO NOT RECOMMEND IT FOR ANYONE.

IT IS NOT TESTED FOR SAFETY.

TAKE VITAMIN D3 INSTEAD. SEE HOMEFIRST.COM ABOUT VITAMIN D

THANK YOU,
