Does Anyone Remember the Sunfire Novels?

They were historical romances for teens/young adults. The first one was Amanda, and was about a girl who goes west to Oregon with her father. The covers had the girl in the foreground, and usually there were two guys, one over each shoulder, that she had to choose between.

I was a HUGE fan when I was a kid. Sometimes I actually still dream that I find a Sunfire I didn't know about in a used book store. A friend of mine still has all of mine stored away at her mom's house and I need to go and get them one of these days.

Does anyone else remember them? If so, what was your favorite? And which of the girls did you want to be, and why?

I read them and loved them. The Titanic book was my favorite. But I did get tired of the girl always choosing the poor boy over the rich one. Surely at least one of them would go for the money.

Have you seen this site? http://www.sunfires.net/

I hadn't seen that site before--thanks! I've got about 30 of the 32, but gave them to a girlfriend back in junior high and she's kept them all these years in storage. I think she's going to dig them out and will send them back to me. I can't wait!

Ohmygoodness, YES!!! I read so many of these books when I was younger. There are two that really stick out in my memory:

1) The one about the girl who was involved in the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire.
eta: RACHEL

2) The book about a young woman who lived in St. Louis and whose love? brother? went off adventuring on the frontier- I'm thinking maybe he was a member of the Lewis & Clark expedition?
eta: DIANA

I also forgot about Veronica, the girl who lived in HI at the start of WWII.

So many good memories, so many cliches. No wonder I expect life to be so romantic.

My sister and I loved these! We read them all on a family vacation one year. I don't remember a thing about the trip, but I loved the book Sabrina.

Thank you!! I loved those books and totally couldn't remember what they were called. I love the Triangle one and the Titanic one. Off to check if my library has these...

I started reading these in 4th grade and LOVED them. A few years ago, I started collecting them from ebay and a few used book stores. I have maybe 10 or 12 and hope to have the rest eventually.

I've reread them as I've collected them and MAN there was some spotty quality.

Wow, I've never even heard of them! I wonder if my daughter would like them. Are they still in print?

I've wondered about the quality, since I haven't read them since I was a teen. I can only imagine the things that made my heart go pitter-pat when I was 13 would make me groan in disgust now.

Viola, they haven't been in print for a long time, but you could probably scare them up on e-Bay or in used book stores.

They're not. I've collected them from various used book sites.

One thing that I did not get the first time I read them - of course they're not historically correct at all but they're also a little less than PC. There's one about a girl who is "adopted" by an "Indian" tribe and it was a real eye-roller.
