Swollen testicle

I'm posting this here because this is where all the male genitalia knowledgeable ppl are. I'm also gonna post in H&H. Or toddlers. Or?

Anyway, DS 2.5 is intact and around 11:30 am (3 hours ago now) started shrieking and ripping off his pants and diaper. His left testi is bright red, swollen and painful.

I have looked pretty closely, and don't see any obvious bug bites or other trauma.

Recent health history:

Wed 9/16 diarrhea and vomitting with fever of about 102.
Vomitting occurred once, diarrhea persisted through Thursday.

Friday 9/18 about 1 am woke up with croupy breathing, not just coughing and we did 2 duonebs and ended up in the ER. He got a shot of decadron in each leg and his breathing is much better since Saturday, with very little coughing.

He is not vax'd.

I have an appt for 415 today and this doctor has already tried to retract him at his one and only other appt with her. I think I smacked her hand. I'm planning on reminding her not to manipulate his foreskin and moving his penis out of the way myself.

So, 2 questions.

1. No way this is foreskin related, right?
2. What is it?!!

Look up a good Childrens Hospital in your area and take him in ASAP...

we have an appt already.

Yikes. I wonder if he ended up with a hernia from coughing or vomiting. Either way he needs to be seen ASAP, and I would keep my hand over his penis THE ENTIRE TIME.

Poor little guy! I have no idea what it could be, but please let us know how you made out.

I hope everything went ok today. It would have warranted a trip to children's emergency room, I think.

So OP what did the Dr. say?

It sounds like a possible testicular torsion to me and I wouldnt wait to take him in at all. If it is and it isnt fixed ASAP he could loose that testicle. No way at all it could possibly be foreskin related.

Power went out in the office so they cancelled, but the swelling is gone. He was able to sit down too. Still red and tender to the touch.

Wow I cant believe they would risk not seeing him for what could possibly be a very serious condition. I would take him somewhere to get this checked out. It could be something very simple or just a infection or the torsion I mentioned earlier either way it could affect his fertility in the future.

I'm with Mcat, he needs to be seen. They should have sent you somewhere else that he could be seen immediately. I hope everything turns out OK.
