wondering if anyone else is doing this -- i am 40 weeks 2 days now. so i am going to the hardcore acupuncture guy to try and start SOMETHING here

of course, i did the same with DS and it didn't help, i went to 42+ weeks anyway and had to be induced at the hospital. though maybe it helped labor/delivery somehow.

oh well! here's hoping!

I had acupuncture done on a Friday and had dd on Monday morning at 41+1... don't know if it helped, but I did feel better afterward.

My MW said that it can take more than one session of accupuncture to get labor started. . .just FYI.

I am not going to think about it till I pass 40 weeks. . .but after that accupunture is high on my list of things to try.

Good luck! There is a great acupuncturist in my area who may be hearing from me next week

Good to know...if I'm still pregnant next week, we can schedule back-to-back appts, maybe between the acupuncture and the maternal vibes of both of us being together will kick start BOTH our labors!

How are you holding up?

I did this on Sunday. She thought at the time I would have to come back for a second visit.

I started contracting, pretty hard (much harder than I've felt until now anyway), and at regular intervals immediately following the appointment. It started at 10 mins apart, and progressed to 6-7 mins apart and continued for about 22 hours, including through the night.

In the morning my husband stayed home from work because we were questioning if it was the Big Day.

Unfortunately it fizzled out that morning, and when I went to my doc appointment, to my disappointment, I was still completely undilated. Like, same barely half cm I've been for 3 weeks.

We've been discussing whether it's worth going back again this week. I'm 40+1 tonight, and going in tomorrow morning to confirm an induction date for next tuesday. I'm thinking that if the cervix had been more ready it would have tipped off labour for sure. So we'll see how things look tomorrow.

We might consider waiting and only doing the second appointment just prior to the medical induction appointment. That way maybe, with the cervical ripening agents, etc, we can time everything together and get things going with minimal use of pitocin or other interventions.

I'm gonna call the girl back and discuss it after my appt. tomorrow morning.

not much changing over here!

not exactly the most relaxing session. DS threw a fit and insisted on sitting in, and my parents, too, good lord. it was kind of funny. the doc was kind of looking at us like we were all insane, and i think we are.

DS was just trying to act brave, staring at the needles, and kept handing me books to read him. of course picking up a book while lying on my side with needles in my hands was, uh, um. yeah. i felt it alright.

DS is feelin the stress too i guess, ugh

having the parents living with us and waiting for me to go into labor is not fun

I had an acupuncture induction this afternoon at 3pm and the only thing I've felt so far was maybe baby dropping a little bit more. I am now 41 weeks 3 days, completely at my wits end and will be getting my membranes swept tomorrow along with some more acupuncture and acupressure. If these things don't work my midwife will use a foley bulb to manually dilate my cervix. Fun Stuff!! Hope you go into labor very soon and avoid the torturous waiting!

Hmmm.

My chiquita specializes in pregnant women and induction. She even did a 15 week stage in Obstetrics at a local hospital- the best one in our area. I had no idea they'd allow such a thing, but apparently they have them on staff there!

Maybe it requires the right 'puncturist for the job?

I did it and it did cause a ton of contractions, but it didn't work. In the end, I think it was because the boy wasn't lined up properly. Once we positioned him and bound my belly, I had him within hours. If he had been lined up, who knows?

Can you go again alone this time. Sounds kind of hectic.

I go weekly to acupuncture... I start doing the induction points around 38 weeks. So I have had a couple sessions with them doing my induction points. I am going into tomorrow for another session. And I will go in on next Tuesday if the baby isn't here yet.

I went on Sunday as I had been having contractions all morning and I thought for sure this would get things going, but they stopped after my session.
