update from OctoberMoon

i have her permission to update the group -- so here's what i know... from her text messages:

OctoberMoon gave birth to a healthy baby boy on 9/19 @ 12:35 am, 7.4 lbs, 20 inches. labor lasted about 14 hours, with only two hours of actual pain. he was born vaginally and naturally.

she had a number of serious complications, including a third degree internal tear. she had to have four units of blood transfused. then she suffered a pulminary embolism and was transfered to the pcu, which she said was horrific, especially being away from her baby.

however she has pulled through, thank God, is home now and recovering well, although will be on blood thinners for months.

(i don't have baby's name... hopefully OctoberMoon will be back online one of these days soon and can tell us the complete story of his arrival.)

OH my gosh, a pulmonary embolism??????? How scary!! Oh my gosh...

I'm so glad she and baby are okay, that she got the birth she wanted, and that they're home together.

I wonder if she's able to nurse while on blood thinners...off to google

Geeze louise, what an experience. I'm glad all is well now.

I must say, after all that trouble trying to get her homebirth, I think it's a good thing she didn't birth at home afterall. I can't remember how far she was from hospital, but it sounds like she could have been in serious trouble if she'd been any further away from emergency care. Who knew.

Really, really glad to hear she and baby are okay. Really sorry she had to deal with such terrifying birth complications -- that was my greatest fear when she didn't update.

Looking forward to her posting again and getting to congratulate her "in person."

Congrats, October! I am so sorry for all the after birth complications, but I am so glad you got to birth naturally and that you were in a safe place for your interventions....and that you are all home and well now! Please get in touch as soon as you feel up to it. I hope you know how much this DDC loves you.
