How Often to Wash Wool Nursing Pads?

I recently bought some LANACare Softline nursing pads. I've read the directions for getting dried milk particles off in between washings, but I'm having a bit of a hard time with this part. I don't leak a lot...just a little at let-down. I wear the same pad for about 24 hours and then I switch. The directions say to rub the pads between my knuckles to get the dried milk off, but I feel like it doesn't work that well. I end up just kinda getting stringy clumps of wool coming up off the pad (still attached to the pad, though). I've only washed them once, after using them for two weeks. Is washing twice a month ok? What about 3 or 4 times a month? The directions said "at least once a month", but I didn't know if more frequently would be too much...esp. since I'm not a heavy leaker.

I washed mine once a week at the beginning and then once every two weeks later on. They held up great!
