Iron is red meat is bad?

I was bored playing around online and was taking a test thing on a doctors website on how long you'll live. It was linked to from an article on centenarians. It asked about how often you eat red meat, which I eat a lot... But it said this in the results...

"Red meat is the primary source of potentially life-shortening iron. Cutting back your read meat consumption to 1-2 days per week or less could add 1 year to your life expectancy"

Where would this idea come from? I thought the iron in meat was the best kind.

Btw this quiz if you're bored like me.

I've read this too in various articles. I guess if you look at where the most centenarians are from ... they're usually not cultures that eat a lot of red meat. But, then again, centenarians are still anomalies and it could be genetic.

I remember an article a year or so back that said a build up of iron was the reason men had shorter life spans than women. But, that's all I remember about the article - I don't remember the source either.

I was a raw food vegan for years, and recently switched to TF. I am so LOVING my red meat. I would rather not hear bad news about it, lol.

I think there's a solution to iron buildup - donate blood. I heard more women than men donate their blood, and that's saying something as a lot of women don't qualify for the weight or HB count limit. Almost all adult men qualify.

Not sure if this would apply to me because I keep having babies and have low iron count.
And I wonder if the syudy is of heathy grass fed cows?
It is like some say dairy products are bad for you, but it is hormone, homoginized, crap, not raw from healthy cows. Grass fed cows have CLA inthe meat which fights cancer.

I only eat red meat from healthy cows, and do eat something alklanizing with it like greens, (steamed or raw) and have a cultured veggie with it too. I am not concerned with it. But we do only eat beef 1-2 times a week. We have chicken or fish other days of the week. All things in moderation.

Iron's a tricky mineral, because some people are truly deficient, it's more likely in women and kids, and that needs to be addressed, but excess iron is equally problematic. In excess, it causes oxidative stress and has heart health ramifications.

I've read about the difference between men & women in Sinatra's heart disease book - he said that women don't have problems with iron because we menstruate & that men (& menopausal women) should give blood to solve the issue.

But I don't think cutting out red meat is the answer.
