I don't think I can even take this piece seriously when they claim the MMR did not come out until the 1990's at the beginning of the article. The piece later reveals that it is more than 30 years old. I think it is about 40 years old, introduced in 1968 or 9.

If the vaccine was to blame, autism rates among children should be higher because the MMR has only been available since the early 1990s, the centre says.

With that kind of error, there was no fact-checking or high-level reporting going on. Heck, even editing.

The question is, when was the MMR introduced to GB? It may have been the early 1990s. Although I think it was a bit earlier than that. Not as early as the late 1960s, though.

I believe it was 1988 for a single dose. A schedule which required two doses was introduced in 1996.

I would not be surprised in the slightest if there are many undiagnosed adults out there. I can think of a few adults I know whom I suspect are on the spectrum. The saddest thing is that many aren't getting the support they need.

MMR was released in the UK in 1988:

The article says: "MMR vaccine has been used extensively and safely around the world for over 30 years and is the best way of protecting your child against measles, mumps and rubella."

I think that applies to many developmental & neurological disorders - we're pretty spoiled now with Early Intervention. It seems like diagnosis is the "cause" of the rise in Autism (& other developmental & neurological disorders)
