My estranged husband and I placed our 3 incredible little love bugs with some close church friends for a time, while we dealt with some issues. Well, the state felt the need to intervene, since they don't like parents who take initiative and look out for the best for their children. Now they're in foster care, instead of guardianship, but thankfully, still with these same friends (a very warm, loving, Christian family).
Here's the problem:
The kids have been getting sick a lot since they've been there and our kid's Pediatrician, who was awesome, does not work at the clinic anymore. So, the kid's have been seen by our friend's Pediatrician. I have never met this doctor but the more they tell me about her, the more I grow concerned. She likes prescribing medicine for anything, including pseudoephedrine (which can be very dangerous, especially in children). She's also very much pro-vaccine and pro-circumcision. I have asked that the kids see a different Pediatrician and suggested one from the clinic where the kids previously went. I have yet to hear from the state on this matter.
With the kids being sick has also been the problem of my 4 1/2 year old son having repeat infections on his penis. He is potty-trained and does not wear any sort of diaper/pull-up. We never had a problem with him getting infections before this, aside from the occasional diaper rash, as a baby, and found that he just had sensitive skin. (Cloth diapers and JASON brand baby diaper rash cream worked wonders, in addition to naked time. LOL)
The Pediatrician that the kids are currently seeing is recommending circumcision, due to the repeat infections, for my son. I am highly against circumcision and it immediately brought up a red flag for me, especially as my son never had issues with this before and had his 4 year well child visit at the end of January, with a clean bill of health. I thought, "Someone must be retracting his penis, for him to be getting these infections." I asked our friend and she said that the Pediatrician does this and I told her again that she needs to step in and tell the doctor, "NO!" I then had to explain to her how dangerous a practice retracting is and she just didn't get it.
So, now I'm going to a children's hospital tomorrow with our friends and my little guy, to see a Pediatric urologist. Whatever this doctor says will go on state records. I still have a right to a second opinion and I am always willing to fight long and hard for my children. However, the Deputy Commissioner can override me, right now, so I don't have long and desperately need help.
If it's helpful, as far as laws and such go, I am in St. Lawrence County of New York state.

This urologist should not be allowed to retract your son dont let it happen do what it takes to prevent it. He already has issues and retracting is just going to make it worse. Your ds might not even be having infections it might be the seperation process which can to the uneducated eye look like infection. ie pain, swelling, ballooning etc.
