What would you do if you thought your child had OCD? What do you do first?

The first thing I would do is get a referral to a good child psychologist and have him try therapy for a bit to see if it helped, and what the professional's assessment was.

My son was exhibiting some ocd-ish behaviors and I first went out and got some books. The Anxiety Cure and What to do When Your Brain Gets Stuck. The books really helped my son to frame it in a way that was helpful. He had another setback though and I took him to the doctor. The doctor refered us to a counselor, but we haven't followed up on it because the behaviors lessened and haven't been bothering him. He was exhibiting anxiety that was sort of ocd-ish. It wasn't fullblown ocd. He takes cod liver oil daily and I have noticed that lack of sleep makes it worse. Hope that helps.

The same situation for my daughter. For a month she had serious anxiety issues. I read a couple of books about OCD and children and then after a month it stopped. Still I would like to know more about it so that I can fully assess the situation.
