I have been on the proverbial fence this yr. In past yrs only DH gets a flu spray (required by the military) which is somewhat fine since he is in daily contact with "others". I am a SAHM and HS but my youngest goes to preschool and some therapy sessions for his hearing impairment so of my children he is the most "exposed".

Oh course all the "hype" about flu is making me wonder if this yr I should (NOT the kids) get a flu shot/spray. We are TTC which hopefully will happen this winter. I was wondering if you could point me to some resources about getting the flu shot/spray PRIOR to TTC. I personally would never get it while pg considering it has not been tested in pg and can be considered class C. but is it any differnt if I get it and then get pg within a few months? Im thinking about doing the flumist (no thimerasol) WWYD?

I am very pro-active during the winter months anyway. We are constant hand washers and limit our "outings" during peak flu season here. I also try to limit my childrens exposure, so no 12 hr airplane rides We believe in boosting our immunity thru our food choices, lots of veggies and fruits as I do supplement more during the winter with vitamins.

Im just concerned of us giving the kids flu since we have the most exposure to other people. Although DH and I already have a plan if one of us is to get sick that person would stay in a hotel. So Im fortunate that that has always been available to us so as to not pass on severe illnesses to our kids. We can literally just keep the kids home which we have done in the past one particular season when it hit our community bad. They were fine but I (dh was vaccinated) did everything for us shopping, errands and whatnot. I guess what I need is a bubble....
