Sweet potato fries?

Does anyone have a recipe for sweet potato fries? (And can I give them to my 6 month old?) Thanks!

Yum. I had some for dinner tonight. That was one of the early foods for DD tho I didn't start solids until almost 10 mos.

I slice them thick, toss with olive oil (and sage, rosemary, garlic, etc if I've got it around) and bake at 350 or 375. I think it usually takes about 25 mins, I usually flip them after about 15 mins, unless I forget to. DD has always loved them.

Sweet potatoes are fine for little ones, they are a low allergen foods.

I would just offer baked sweet potato rather than "fries" which are crispy

I slice them into spears and bake in the oven for about 25 minutes.

I cube them and steam them for dinner at night and then pan fry the leftovers in the morning. (yum)

I do sweet potato wedges. To speed up the cooking time I cut them into wedges and steam them in one of those "basket in a pot" things. Then I toss with a little olive oil and some spices and put either in the oven or on the grill. For a little one you could probably just set aside a few after the steaming process, they are nice and soft then (depending on how long you steam for).

We've baked them in OO as well, but usually coat them in coconut oil for a different taste. We all love them this way!

I cut mine kind of skinny, toss them in melted butter and put them in a single layer of a baking sheet. Then I sprinkle with sea salt, pepper, and paprika. Bake at 400 for 15 min., flip them over, and bake for another 15. They are a favorite at our house for all 3 of us!

These have been some of my dd's favorite foods since she first started solids.

I cut them into thick fry shapes toss in olive oil and some kosher or sea salt and roast on a cookie sheet or cast iron pan in a hot oven (450 or so) until tender. I shake them around once or twice during the cooking.

I love these and when I used to live near a Trader Joe's they have them pre-cut and peeled in the section by the bagged salads. I would roast them in the oven with olive oil and coarse sea salt. I gave them to my oldest ds without the salt from the time he was pretty young, maybe not six months, but eight or nine months. Now that I can't find them pre-cut, I have to admit, it's a little time-consuming so I don't make them as often.

This is my favorite recipe for them:

I like to slice mine thin, that way they come out crisper. I toss them with a little olive oil, sprinkle with salt and pepper and bake for about 20-25 mins, turning them halfway.

Yummm!

Oh, these are delish!!! We just tried them for the first time this week: we cut them into frie shapes, about 1/2'' x 1/2 ''. Then DH tossed them with OO and cinnamon and paprika (ya gotta trust me, they were great ) He baked them low for a long time say 25 minutes, turning twice to crisp them. They didn't get very crispy but they tasted so good it didn't matter. They were solid enough to dip into our yogurt curry sauce: 1 cup yogurt, 2 tsp quality curry powder, 2 tblspoons mayo = YUM!!!

If you're offering them as a first food type thing, I would keep the ingredients to a minimum: olive oil, sweet potato and a little sea salt. You can fancy them up later. Just in case there's a reaction, the less ingredients, the easier it is to figure things out. We bake ours at 375, 25 minutes first side, flip and bake for another 20 minutes.
