Questions on Positions & Belly Mapping

Thread Starter
I saw a link to a website that explained "belly mapping" in a thread somewhere but now I can't find it!

I'm just curious when you should really start to pay attention to baby's position and if it is not ideal for the birth what are positions you use for your own body to get baby to move?

I am only 19 weeks so I think my LO has plenty of room to do acrobatics right now but I have been feeling a lot of uncomfortable kicking (or punching?) to my cervix area for about a week now and it makes me curious about all this.

Anybody care to enlighten me?

Up until at least 36 weeks position is pretty unimportant. I liked to figure out how my baby was laying and I could tell exactly how she was but I really feel that it's interfering too much to try to change their position. Sometimes babies are in a certain position because it's the best way for them to be born or the best way for you to labor. I would try some gentle encouragement for breech or posterior after 38 weeks or so (I have done it before) but nothing too stressful or forceful. Now, if I had a baby that was transverse during labor I would probably feel differently but I would follow my instincts and do what I felt.

Probably is breech or is flipping around. The location of kids is a good indicator of where feet are generally. Nothing to worry about until you're term. I'm 38 weeks and mine is still doing somersaults!
