pink spotting in DD diaper, what is it?

I have noticed a tiny bit of light pink spotting in my 12 week old daughters diaper today. I've heard that it may be common in newborns but in a 12 week old? I did start the "mini pill" birth control about 11 days ago. Anyone have any experience with this?
Also, could it be dehydration? She has about 6 wet diapers per day, but sometimes they are rather dark/strong smelling. I've been dealing with supply issues and she was supplemented with formula 1-3 times a day, up to 3 days ago because I thought she was getting enough breastmilk. Now I'm not sure...I know its taboo, but should I go back to supplementing a little formula?

Does she have a fever? Blood could indicate a urinary tract infection. I would definately check with a pediatrician about this. Although it may be nothing, better safe than sorry.

Went to ped. today because DD hadn't had a wet diaper for over 11 hours.
Weight check reveiled DD lost 10 oz. in 8 days, and was headed dangerously close to being dehydrated The pink spotting/darker urine is a begining sign.I was devestated. Ped. suggested I feed her 2-3 oz. every 2-3 hours (either EBM or F, whichever I had to give her) and nurse after that, just to get her back on track. He also wrote a RX for a hospital grade pump, which I'll check on getting tomorrow. I've known I've been struggling with supply issues but had no idea it was so bad.

I'm glad for you that you have a plan of action. I just wanted to chime in that you are of course a great mom-- you saw that there was something wrong, and you went looking for the advice you needed to fix it. No matter how this turns out, whether you get your supply up to what's needed, or you continue to need to add formula, you are doing the absolute best you can for your child, and that makes you one terrific mama.

A suggestion: we struggled with supply for a short time with my twins. Have you ever used an SNS or Lact-aid to supplement directly from the breast?

You might look into that. An SNS can let you supplement, for baby's health and continued growth, AND work on increasing your supply.

You pump, put what you get into the SNS. Baby nurses. When your own milk isn't flowing actively anymore, add the SNS. Baby gets the milk from that, while still suckling your breast, which stimulates your supply. When the pumped milk runs out, you add formula to the SNS as needed until baby is satisfied. All that extra suckling in the meantime boosts your supply. THEN when you're done, you pump again, for the milk for the next SNS.

Barring any real physical problems, a few days or a week of that regime will really kickstart a low supply.
