Waking up at night to poop. Teething? Xposted in LWAB

My 6.5mo is ECd. Lately she has been waking up at night to poop. I am exhausted because she often has a difficult time going back to sleep after this.

It's 2:43 AM here and now she is up for good. She's pooped twice tonight. She is also running a very lowgrade fever and her nose is running. I realize she could have a cold, but could it also be teeth? DS's nose runs when he's teething.

We have started some solids with her recently. She's eaten a little broccoli, squash, chewed on some cukes, carrots, apples, etc. I did a little chicken last week, and she's had some wheat this week. I'm planning on cutting out the wheat to see if it improves, but the rest seems fairly easily digestible, and it's never been more than a few bites.

Any thoughts?

What a hassle, but hopefully it won't last! I would definitely cut out the wheat, and possibly meat, too, for now. At that stage, my DD was only eating apple, carrot, and a few other vegetables. She started in on grains with oat porridge, which didn't seem to bother her.

We got at least one, usually two, super-inconvenient poos every time a new tooth came in (usually a miss, but often just at a bad time) so teething is probably contributing, too. I'd just stick with the usual night-waking advice: Keep things dark and quiet and boring, and eventually she'll get the idea! You might also want to adjust the time of when she gets the solid foods, if that seems to be a factor.

DD2 did this at the same age - IMO it was caused by the introduction of solids. From memory it happened six nights in a row, and she hasn't done a night poo since (it's been six months). HTH.

We took a week long break from solids and returned to it a few days ago...and no night poops! She is really unpredictable with peeing at night. Some nights she is dry til 6 AM, some nights she pees 6 times, and I only catch twice. And she definitely has to poop first thing at 7 AM sharp.

Thanks for the help.
