My SIL just returned to work and her DS is not taking a pumped bottle too well. She'd like to try a new bottle/nipples. Can someone recommend something that will closely resemble the breast?
TIA!
My dd doesn't like to take the bottle very well, which is a problem as she is going to daycare next week.... but she likes the NUBY infant bottle nipple. I looks most "like" me. My sister had the most luck with the Playtex nursers.
Sometimes it's just trial and error. We bought about 12 combinations and are still trying to find one that works better.
Ds will sometimes take the Nuby bottle too. I hate it, darn thing leaks but he quit taking the playtex ones so not much to do but deal with the leaking I guess.
There is a bottle called breastflow I know our Target carries them. They are suppost to be most like breastfeeding and have a nipple inside a nipple. They are a really neat idea. Good luck!
DS was particular about a bottle, which was frustrating since I worked then. Now I am home with DD and she doesn't care!
With DS, he finally tolerated a Playtex nurser with the latex nipple. I think silicone nipples were too stiff or something. He never took a big volume from a bottle, though, just enough to get by.
My son was not into bottles at all but finally took the Adiri Natural Nurser, which is boob-shaped. I think they sell them at Babies R Us now, and there are several places online you can order them.
My first DS (who was near impossible to introduce a bottle to) took the Breastflow at first. Very similar to the breast - baby sucks and uses pressure to get the milk out. Then, I found the Natural Nursers by Adiri and he took that even better.
All my other DSs who were EQUALLY impossible with bottles will ONLY take the Natural Nurser. It's VERY breastlike. And if DH runs the nipple under warm water they take it even better - it's warm, squooshy and the whole nipple area can be drawn into the mouth like the areola is when breastfeeding.

I was going to reply that a friend was having the same problem and that her DS will take a few ounces from the adari bottle, but then it occured to me that maybe we are talking about the same person....does her name start with an M and her DS starts with an S? Just wondering.
DD hates the bottle, but DH can get her to take it when she is really hungry. We tried about 5 different kinds! She prefers the Breastflow. She will also take the Adiri--but not as well. The Adiri look like a breast, but the Breastflow works more like a breast, I think. Both have shorter nipples. I know DD gags on long nipples.
What is more like Mama may depend on how mama is shaped. I have heard many babies prefer the Avent or the Mam nipples.
We've had luck with the playtex nurser with a latex nipple. I think that latex nipples make a big difference because the are softer and feel more like skin

Too funny! Hi fellow columbuser! No it's my SIL and nephew, they live in Va. I'm going to pass on the adari bottle advice though!
we tried sooo many different bottles with ds! he took the adiri once and it seemed like that was going to be "the one" but he refused it thereafter. same thing with the avent, which we have a bunch of from dd. finally in desperation, i grabbed several different bottles that we hadn't tried yet at target. ds settled with the breastflow bottle, and now he takes it like a champ for daddy.
