Food for thought for anyone thinking a seasonal flu shot might help reduce the effects of H1N1.

I think they are saying this so that if you have to choose between the vaccines you will coose the H1N1 over tehh regualr one. I mean they have ordered a vaccine for every person and they dont want to waste them.

Hah. If they did this here in the US, it would prob cause mass panic. "What do you mean no flu shot? What do we do now? How do we stay not sick?". People who get the seasonal flu shot would just not know what to do. I swear there are those in my family who can't wait to get the green light to get it.

Will just have to see if they can validate the findings in time for the seasonal flu vax, or will it be one big experiment this year?

I like thier statement about how to keep the public from getting sick. I don't know, inform them of some basic health precautions maybe? Tell them what to do if they do get the flu?

Again, this paper this article is refering to hasn't been peer reviewed and doesn't include a randomized control study.

According to this article Australian, British & American researchers haven't seen this phenomenon and several experts don't feel the idea makes any sense.

I don't know ANYONE who is getting the seasonal flu shot in the hopes that it'll head off H1N1

It makes sense to me because IMO any vaccine weakens you and leaves you more succeptible to other disease. So if you got the flu shot and didnt get the H1N1 shot, then yes you might get sicker when you do catch H1N1. This is my own theory and I just may be a crackpot. lol.

My mother suggested I get it for my daughter to help with H1N1. It was suggested by my boss at a staff meeting. He knows little about vaccination. So based on my random sampling, it's probably a widespread idea.

that's unprofessional opinions for you!

They have a vaccine specifically for H1N1 because the regular flu shot doesn't protect against it. Hello!
