How old is too old for sink peeing?

Just wondering what age most people think is too old to potty a baby/toddler in the bathroom sink? My ds is 16 months now and I've been trying to put him on the actual toilet more and more just so that he gets used to it, and so that he doesn't think that the sink is a toilet. But sometimes, it is easier for me to hold him over the sink than the toilet, so I do it mostly out of laziness still.

At what age did people here completely stop using the sink for a toilet?

Can you squat to hold him over the toilet? What does he do if you sit him on it, or use a reducer? Do you own a potty?

We started with the BBLP, and moved up to the BBPC (although we still use the BBLP daily - the BBPC stays in the bathroom), but she doesn't seem to want to use the toilet. I do sit her on it at least once a day though. Even if she doesn't do anything (and she doesn't). The way I see it, is I'm not going to worry about the toilet until she's able to take herself to it and use it without aid. So for now, we use mainly potties.

I never used the sink so I can't answer your question, but I often wonder why people do it. I tried holding my daughter a few times (in the classic hold position) over both the sink and the toilet (just to see what it felt like). The sink was easier (mainly because of standing and the mirror was a nice distraction), but I didn't find the toilet much more difficult. Just more boring. LOL! But that's just my experience.

Sorry I can't be more helpful.

Oh, it's ok, I'm asking more for curiosity than anything. We do have 2 BBLP's, he'll sit on the toilet with or without a seat reducer, he will go pretty much anywhere I ask him to. It's actually myself that I need to get out of the habit of pottying him over the sink I just was kind of thinking at what point does this become 'gross'? Or inappropriate? Likewise with pottying outside.

I don't think it is really inappropriate, but I'm trying to switch it up because my LO is just too dang heavy!

I normally don't worry about it, but if I have a guest and they see me pottying him at the sink I do tend to feel embarrassed. Likewise, at my in laws' house, if I potty him in their sink, I am always sure to close the door because I would feel guilty if someone saw. Perhaps that means he's too old. On the other hand, think I felt the same way when he was much younger.

The change I'm dealing with now, is that when I take him to the potty in the sink, he just wants to play with the toothbrushes, with the thing-a-ma-jig that you push or pull to get the drain to open up, and anything else within reach. It drives me nuts! If he REALLY has to pee, he will. But if he can still hold it, he'll play instead

We have also been holding him over the toilet also, since very early on. We have a stool we keep in the bathroom, and we sit on that facing the back of the toilet. But these days he expects me to start out at the sink and gets upset if I start out at the toilet (DH can take him to the toilet, no problem). If he's at the sink and begins to poop, that's when I make the shift, and he's okay with that. I'm not really happy with the situation! I recommend you switch before it becomes a problem!

We also have a couple of BBLPs but haven't been using them much lately. Now that DS is mobile, I think I'd like to start taking him to the BBLP more often, so we can keep it nearby, and he can go to it to let me know he needs to go.

Sorry to stray from the crux of your questions. But the sink issues have been on my mind!

That's exactly how I feel. Except, my ds doesn't play with stuff at the sink, he plays with the toilet paper next to the toilet. So that makes it even harder to want to use the toilet.
