I'm going to nursing school next month and have a huge long list of things I have to be vaccinated for, or show proof that I'm immune. I am not anti-vax but would like to avoid any unnecessary ones. I do not have any shot records from childhood. So, I had some titers done and the good news is that all of them were reactive (meaning I am immune). I am having a question on the varicella one though. My level was 1.01, and anything above .99 means I have immunity. All the others were way above the minimum number for immunity, but this was was kinda borderline. Should I be worried that I might contract varicella again? I had it as a child but that was 30 years ago.
So, should I worry about getting varicella again? I would *hate* to have it as an adult!! Or maybe can I get exposed again at a pox party if I can find one, and would that boost my immunity a bit? If my immunity is not that high, am I at a greater risk of getting shingles?
