okay to donate blood?

Probably being overly cautious, but is it okay to donate blood while nursing? DD is 7 months, EBF (not in to food yet) and we've had no problems with anemia thus far.

Some sources (e.g. Jack Newman) say it should be fine if mum is otherwise eligible and is not anaemic; others say it should be avoided.

Most people can and would have no issues. Personally, I have issues keeping my iron high enough as it is, so I probably wouldn't while nursing (though I regularly do while not nursing ).
