Who knows about bee pollen?

I recently started adding some bee pollen to my kefir smoothies. I started with just a pinch and increased it each day until I was around a tsp.

Then I didn't have it for a few days and went back to a tsp. I had a weird allergic reaction in my mouth this morning... not severe, but the corners of my mouth swelled a little bit and felt kinda burny. I was wondering if it could be b/c of the bee pollen?

Does your tolerance drop right off if you go a day or a few days without it? Is that the sort of "reaction" they refer to when some one starts taking it who is not used to it?

Also my DS1 (3yrs) has been having just a little bit of excema around his mouth and I wondered if that was b/c of the BP too... but I can't remember if he had the excema before I started adding it to smoothies or not. Would that also be a possible reaction to BP?

TIA

I do occasionally take bee pollen (need to start again) but my best friend goes from normal to looking like a truck ran her over in about 15 minutes after eating a few grains of it...not able to fake it kind of things like black circles under her eyes and that type of thing. I think it must be something that can cause allergies easily simply because its made of pollen collected from possibley allergenic things to that person. I will post back later with a couple of bee pollen links I know!

i was doing the whole bee pollen thing too...using local pee pollen to try and help with HORRENDOUS seasonal allergies. I've never been allergic to bees or anything except pollens. In the beginning it was really helping and I gradually worked up to about a tsp. But then there were a couple mornings where I took it and got this crazy allergies reactions. My chest, tongue and ears got SO itchy!! Like I couldn't stop scratching mysylf and had hives all over my chest. The first day I wasn't sure if it was the bee pollen but when it happened again the next morning I decided to stop taking it because I was scared I was gonna go into anaphylactic shock!

I use it daily and haven't had a problem. Although, I have TONS of other allergies, so maybe this one just skipped me

Same here, and I take almost a tablespoon.
