Help, what to do w/holes in wool sweater?

I found a wool sweater at a thrift shop and noticed a couple small holes when I got it home. Do I need to do anything to the holes before I felt it? This will be my first attempt at making a recycled sweater diaper cover.

Nope. Felting will make the fibers tangle so the hole won't run. If the hole is still unacceptable after felting, sew it closed or cover with a cute patch.
