Tetnus, retroactive?

Someone told me the Tetnus shot was retroactive 48 hrs after injury! I had a hard time believing that, need some data!

Ummm...no! The tetanus shot is useless against a current injury. If it even works, it would take up to 2 weeks to make antibodies.

Perhaps this person was talking about TiG? (Tetanus Immune Globulin) which can be given up to 48 hours after an injury and is a blood product. It works in the body like a antivenum would after a snake bite.
