Layers. A onesie and then pants over it, or something along those lines.

Snap covers(although DS figured out those about a week after he figured out velcro/aplix covers) and layers. I've actually been putting wool over everything now for bed, even pockets, to keep DS from getting the diaper off. I even have a thin wool soaker that I use over his pockets but under pajamas(for when I don't use his wool longies)

Layers worked for us, too. We called it DS's "armor."

Also, doesn't prorap make a cover with a belt to secure it on?

Prorap does, but it still goes on with velcro, then buckles. My older son had a few covers like that, and he managed to get out of those even with the buckle.

Thank you for all the ideas. what specific brands do you reccomend?

We used Bummis snap wraps, but she eventually figured those out as well. Onesies are I think your best bet.

ah the fun stage : ) I highly suggest the Pro rap cover, it has a buckel : ) And its not real expensive plus works well.

I've had success with putting the cover on backwards. I like Bummis, I have a few Thirsties covers in the mail, I'll let you know how those work out.

I don't have any diapering advice to add, but I just wanted to say that my dd was the same way, hated diapers! After months of fighting it, light finally dawned and I brought out the little potty when she was around 16mo. She was fully potty trained by 18 mo, even at night! So if she's still doing it in a few months, maybe give early potty training a try.

This is the EXACT reason I used to love pins and pull-up pants! I tried one or two velcro wraps, and found that DD1 could take them off herself. When I used those, I needed to put her in a onesie, backwards, and use a diaper pin to keep it closed. She could pull on the onesie and unfasten the snaps otherwise. It was far simpler to use a pinned flat or prefold with a pull-on cover. That was already a layer over the diaper and she couldn't get it off.

I was similarly upset when dispsable diaper companies switched from tape to velcro. Babies couldn't open the tape themselves!

: Pins and pull-on covers or wool are the best.

And tie the drawstring of the soaker in the back.

I switched to side snapping diapers at that age. It's harder for them to get the leverage to undo the snaps (DS can undo front snaps as well as snappis)
