Important life lessons I would like to teach my child.

FIRST you unlatch, THEN you whip your head around to see what's behind you.

The order in which these things occur is very, very important.

What lessons are *you* hoping to impart to your nursling today?

I only have 2 of these. Please handle with care and remember there is NO biting.

Actually, they belong to ME. Really, they do. They're mine. It might not seem that way right now, but they are actually mine. So I get final say on what happens with them.

(Actually, all mine have weaned by now. But I remember those days.)

Please, child, stop exercising your new-found voice at Grandma's house. It makes her think you are hungry.

Not dissimilar to another post but:
1) swallow
2) unlatch
3) move head
in that order. every time. thanks.

otherwise milk gets everywhere and/or I have to yell "ow"

My Ds has weaned about 2 years ago when he was 3 but he still thinks that they are his milkies !!!!! So mine is do not lift up mommies shirts and touch her boobs!!!!!! when he was nurseing I remember wanting him to know that it is adorable to smile your milk face smile but please do not bite me at the same time! for new baby I just really hope he is a champ nurser like his brother was!

cute thread by the way!

When I say "wait please" when you ask to nurse, this does not mean stick your hands down my shirt and into my cleavage while continuing to sign "nurse" with your other hand and repeating "nummie nummie nummie".

DD know's what wait means and can do it pretty peacefully most days, but rarely is she patient about nursing.

The milk can only come out so fast and you need to be patient. I know you want to get back down to play, but pinching, squirming, and kicking are not going to speed things along.

My son says: "Are you sure? Because I thought maybe I just wasn't pinching, squirming, and kicking ENOUGH."

it is very endearing to talk, blow bubbles etc while nursing but if you could wait until the letdown has passed, that'd be great. a second ago your hunger howl could wake the dead, so maybe the charm could wait a bit? :

Aww...I love the rasperries when Lincoln nurses! And the sweet nursing smile that only I got to see!!

But, I really wish he would practice his pincer grasp on something else. I love though now that when he's done nursing he wants me to lay on my back so that he can latch, unlatch, and smile at me and just in general play with me right after he finishes. I love love love nursing, I'm so glad I found MDC and was convinced that BF was a good idea

And our other new lesson...

You can't nurse with food in your mouth. Chewing and sucking at the same time doesn't feel so pleasant.

Nipples are for eating...not for rubbing all over your face and sticking into your eye.
if you remove my nipples with your teeth as you seem to be trying to do mama wont have any milkies any more....

Callling them "please please" is cute.

Screaming "GIVE ME PLEASE PLEASE!!!!!!"-- not so much.

If you feel the need to pull off and look around please don't do it during letdown. It ends up squirting you in the face and it's just a waste of good milk. :P
post #18 of 19
When I'm not paying attention and you decide to unlatch and grab my nipple between your razor sharp nails and twist it and yank it all at once....it REALLY HURTS!! NEVER DO IT AGAIN!

ahem.
