FREE Flu Shots @ my work! Freaking out!

My office has signs up everywhere now that say:

"FREE Flu Shots!
Oct. 7, 2009
1-4pm
Flu Shots do NOT make you sick!"

OMG!!!

I work in a call center with over 1200 people. FYI, as far as I know, this is just the "standard" flu shot - not the H1N1. If someone gets me sick and I take it home to my 6-month-old (who has NEVER been sick, thank you), BFed, UNvaxed baby, I will be PISSED!!! What can I do???

The flu shot is dead and doesn't shed, IIRC. It's the flu nasal mist that is a live virus and can shed. It think the flu shot hits the immune system and can make ppl more susceptible to viruses floating around, so you could theoretically have more germs in the work place, but the shots themselves won't shed. Just keep your immune system up.

Well if someone gets the flu from the shot (which some will say isnt possible but I know more than a few people that it happened to including my mom) then you very well could catch it then. But there is no way to know if it was caused by someone who got the vax then got sick or if it just came in like all the other germs.

Annoying... It is freakingly everywhere. I got a coupon today for Safeway of 10% if I get a flu shot there
As long as it is the shots, people in your office won't be contagious. It's a whole different story though with Flumist.
The brilliant heads at the military make all service members getting Flumist without telling them that they will be shedding. They don't ask whether you have a newborn or immunocompromised person at home. DH is instructed to demand the shot instead. On top of it, they are bound to receive the swine flumist too!!! Live vaccine! We'll fight this to get the shot instead.

I think it is hysterical that they have to put the "Flu Shots do NOT mak you sick!" on the sign. It shows how many people are questioning the shots if they feel it nessary to add that.

That is such a lie! It can give you "flu like symptoms" which is pretty much being sick IMHO.

Everytime I go to Randall's (i.e. Safeway) they put a 'Get Your Flu Shot' sticker on something that I'm purchasing.. They got my bread last time- and the sticker ripped the bag when I tried to take it off

Our laundry room (student housing) has a sign that says 'The best way to protect your family is with the flu vaccine' I'm pretty damn close to bringing a pen with me next time I go so I can replace 'protect' with 'damage', along with a list of reasons why we avoid the shot.. I doubt it would be taken seriously though..

My pregnant friend got a flu shot on Friday...she's home sick today. So much for that.
