Vinegar Chocolate Cake into Cupcakes?

I wanted to make this recipe for a birthday group that includes a little boy allergic to eggs.

I'm wondering whether it could easily be made as cupcakes, since that would be logistically easier. I've never had trouble moving from a cake recipe to cupcakes, and can't think of anything besides baking time that might be different. But since this is a little bit of a different type of recipe, I was wondering if it would work out OK.

My grandmother taught me to make a similar cake when I was little, so the recipe tugs at my heartstrings.

What do you think?

Emily’s Really Easy Chocolate Cake

1.5 cup flour
1/3 cup valrhona cocoa
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 cup sugar

1/2 cup veg. oil
1 cup water
2 tsp. vanilla

2 Tbsp. vinegar

Mix dry.
Mix wet (except vinegar).
Add wet to dry and combine.
Add vinegar. Stir until just combined.
Bake in preheated 375 oven in greased pan.

Maybe you could do a trial batch just to see?
I've successfully made cupcakes from cake recipes, I just adjust the cooking time down to 18-20 minutes (or about half the original time).

It's not exactly like my eggless chocolate cake recipe (a few different ratios) but I'd imagine it would work, since my eggless chocolate cake recipe works as cupcakes or cake. It's another "wacky cake" recipe like yours.

It will work. I just tried it for you.

ETA: It made 12 regular sized cupcakes. It might make 18 if you did not want them to come up over the top of the liners.
