We just came home and smelled something horrible in the apartment. DP discerned that it was coming from our fermenting cauliflower. It was totally mush. (Literally.) and disgusting smelling. We disposed of it, of course. Any ideas what may have been the culprit? Or just a ferment randomly gone wrong as happens? Also, should I be worried about my sourkrauts that were fermenting next to it? Are there any preventative measures I can take? They seem to be coming along normally.
