Help!

I was wondering what would be the best style of diaper to start with. It seems the prefolds are the cheapest way to go, but are they easy to put on a wiggle worm?
The AIO's seem really expensive, how many do I need to start off with?

Just looking for some tips
Thanks

Take a look at my web site

It's true that prefolds are a little harder to put on a wiggle worm if you're not used to doing it. You could prelay them into a cover to go on a little faster. I recommend snaps over Velcro because even though snaps are slower, they stay on better, which I think makes it easier if the kid is wiggling a lot.

Prefolds are indeed the cheapest and easiest way to go.

My little one is also a wiggle worm and I use the prefolds - I have them prefolded and just flip them open drop him on it with the existing diaper on, clean up his existing diaper before sliding it out from under him, then all I have to do is flip up the clean diaper. (Did I explain it right?)

I used to be a velcro/hook&loop girl but DS has learnt to take them off so I only snap now. Once you get the hang of it you'll be just a comfortable as with the velcro.

How many diapers you need depends on how often you change him and how often you plan to wash. Maybe 10 diapers per day plus a night-time solution? Could be more or less, depending on your family.

There are tons of options for cloth. Pf's are do-able, even with a wiggly kid. I use a snappi to put mine on and it's pretty fast. You can also tri-fold the pf (without fastening it) and place it in a cover (velcro or snap style), but I like to fasten it so it holds poo in better.

aio (all-in-one) or pocket diapers can be easier to put on and off, but some people find them to be a little bit more fussy for laundering. Plus they are more $$$.

hth!

At 14 months, depending on poop patterns, you could get away with 15 AIOs or pockets. That wouldn't be too bad. PFs are cheap, but if you want to Snappi them on and the child is wiggly and you are new to this, it is going to be a challenge.

We started when my son was about a year old, and we used pockets/AIOs at first. I like them because they're the most like disposable diapers. Prefolds are cheaper, but I couldn't get the folding with my wriggly boy. Pockets and AIOs can be expensive, but watch for sales and discounts, that helps. You can also just buy a day or two worth at first, and build your stash as you go. Congrats and good luck!

You'll still probably save money, even though you are starting later. If you plan on having any more children, you'll be able to use them again!

Prefolds are the cheapest way to go. If you don't want to worry about a snappi, you can trifold the prefold and lay it in the cover. This will help you get on the diaper as quickly as a pocket or AIO diaper. A cover like Booroi completely holds the prefold in, so you don't have to worry about it shifting.

If you like the ease of pocket or all-in-one diapers, get a blend of diapers. Use prefolds at home, then have some other kinds for when you go out.

For a 14 month old, you would probably need about 6-8 diapers for every day you want to go between washing.
