Which carrier for 3-day music festival with 6-week-old in 85-degree heat?

I think I'd prefer something two-shouldered, for comfort. So far I've only carried my new babe in a Kangaroo Korner pouch.

I also own a moby wrap, and an ergo.

We did a 3 day fest back in July when my babe was 12 weeks with the Ergo. If you have an infant insert for it, that would be my rec. You could also consider adding a solarveil monkey pocket http://monkeypockets.blogspot.com/ if you are concerned about sun. We had 85 degrees most of the weekend we were festing and baby was fine with just sunscreen and lots of mama nourishment! 2 shoulder carrier is def the way to go. I couldn't have imagined all the hiking back and forth to stage and camp we did with a ring sling or pouch.

I have a linen/cotton loose weave wrap that I "made" - I just tore the fabric at the right width for the right length and surged the edges (mostly straight )
It's the only think I can even think about using in that kind of heat, especially here where there's crazy humidity too. I even find it more comfortable than my stretchy wrap and have been using it even when it is cold out.

i'd use a two-shouldered carrier, probably a MT which i prefer with tiny babies over a structured carrier. i happen to have a solarveil mei tai so that's what i'd use. something out of solarveil or solarweave would protect from the sun and be nice and breathable for both of you. i'm pretty sure i've seen at least 2 solarweave carriers on TBW in the last week, might be worth a quick search over there?

Thanks for the input! So maybe I'm not completely crazy to consider doing this festival? Or at least not the only crazy one!

I do love the ergo, but never used it with such a young babe. I did get the infant insert for it, but still haven't tried it out. The monkey pocket seems like a great idea.

Any other festival-going-with-wee-babe tips for me?

We did a 4 day festival (you are in the redwoods so maybe you'd know it.. Strawberry music fest near Yosemite) when our now 4 month old was 14 weeks old and it was GREAT!! It was pretty hot during the day so we did a lot of laying on a blanket by the lake in the shade -- but then we weren't able to see a lot of the shows anyway because of our busy 3 year old. If you want to hit the music can you pitch an umbrella in the back? I had my moby, moby D (which is a bit less fabric so cooler) and Ergo. I'd say during the day we got the most use out of the Ergo with his feet folded under him and at night the moby was GREAT because it was so much cooler.

Have fun!! I saw lots of other little babes at the festival when we went. We aren't the only crazy ones!

eta: We also brought a wagon and would set a towel in there for cushion so I'd have a safe place to lay him down from time to time when I really needed a sweat break! I liked the wagon because there was no way anyone could step on him (and it carts all your stuff to the show!)

Also wanted to edit in: I wore a wide brimmed sun hat... get a BIG one! It kept the babe shaded all the time! Also had a light hat on him, but my hat kept most of the sun off of him.

Any thoughts on a solarweave MT versus solarveil wrap?

I'd do a make it yourself wrap (moby style) out of cotton gauze. When you cut your 5 yards of cloth in half down the middle, bring the extra one with you in case the first one gets dirty or something
