preemie prefolds?

I bought around a dozen preemie prefolds when my DD was a toddler to use as doublers... I have looked EVERYWHErE in this house and I can't find them!!! I fear they got tossed somehow in our move last February. I was really hoping to have them for the new baby my first came in TINY and we have a long history of not very big babies so I'm anticipating another tiny one.
I have for the NB...
12 NB prefolds (combination of GMD and diaper rite)
12 birds eye newborn prefolds from the baby works (there a lighter weight than standard prefolds but sizing is a bit more like an infant than newborn..
http://www.babyworks.com/catalog/pro...1&pf%5Fid=1020
and 2 fitted from before...
considering how cheep preemie prefolds are would you consider ordering a dozen if you were me?

Yes, if you're planning on using them as wipes or doublers later on. No, if you're just going to use them as diapers and they'll be outgrown almost instantly.

I'd deffeintly hold on to them as doublers (after all that was why I had mine in the first place)..
Though I know wth my first she took 2 months to even fit into a NB sized sposie and was almsot 4 months before she wore a size 1...

Yes! The preemies were a "must" for both my kids...the infants are much too bulky! and you get your $ worth if you use them as doublers later!

good luck with the new baby!

I'm using preemie pfs w/my 3wk baby. All of my kids have been small-ish at birth (all in the 6lb range) and infant pfs are huge for at least 2 months. I've got one dozen preemie pfs and a dozen kissaluvs 0 and loveybums nb.

My only thought would be to check the size of the nb vs the premie. The ones I have are only .5 inch difference in width and 1 inch difference in length. They are standard sizes, not gmd. I only had 3 premie and the rest were nb, and I would have just gone with all nb because there was a smidge more absorbancy and the fit was fine.

But if your babes stay small for a while, certainly sounds like it would be worth it to have dipes that fit nicely at first!

lets see my GMD orange edge newborn is listed (and measures) 11.5" x 12
the preemie from there lists as 9" x 11" and 2x6x2 VS the 4x8 of the others.

I used preemie pfs as pads for postpartum. I oxycleaned them, and now I use them for just about anything baby related- cleaning spitup, making sure the creases on his thighs are dry before rediapering, everything. lol. I love that they are fewer layers than other pfs- they dry much faster.

So I'd say go for it. They are really cheap, and can be very useful. Even if this baby ends up outgrowing them really fast (or never fits in them) you'll probably still get your money's worth out of them.

Seems like it would be worth it to have them just in case, especially since you can use them for doublers and cleanup cloths too. You can get them fairly inexpensively at places like Little Lions ($6/dozen for seconds).
